The premium brand Pivot Cycles has built up an excellent reputation in the mountain bike scene over the years. The American company is headed by Chris Cocalis, an MTB pioneer from the very beginning: the frame designer and co-owner of Titus Cycles founded his own brand in 2007 to rethink mountain biking from scratch. The result: sensitive and drive-neutral rear frames by kinematics guru Dave Weagle, sensibly coordinated frame geometries and components that work together in harmony. True to the slogan "performance redefined", the Pivot Cycles team wants to give every mountain biker the best possible performance and the greatest possible riding pleasure. To achieve this, the prototypes of new models are developed, manufactured and tested in-house. The maxims during development, in addition to performance, are low maintenance and a long durability.
Creating allround models that you can't assign to a strict field of application is a specialty of the MTB pros from Pivot Cycles. The updated Pivot Swichblade and Pivot Trail 429 undoubtedly correspond to this design approach: the Pivot Swichblade rolls on either 27.5" 27.5+"or 29" wheels. With 160 mm suspension travel at the front and 142 mm at the rear, even the roughest descents are no problem for this fun machine. In addition, the sporty geometry of the carbon frame ensures agile handling and smoother running. The low entry and the low projection height of the seat tube round off the attractive set-up of the AM bike with Enduro qualities. With slightly less suspension travel (130 mm at the front and 120 mm at the rear), the Pivot Trail 429 provides plenty of speed on the faster trails. The wide "Super-Boost-Plus" rear triangle provides 29" and up to 2.8″ wide 27.5+ tyres plenty of space and stability. The handling qualities of this climbing trail bike are far above those of the 120 mm class.
With the Mach 4 SL and the Firebird, Pivot naturally has two flagships in its product portfolio for XC and Enduro. The extremely light and noble race-fully Mach 4 SL feels at home on the technically demanding XC race tracks. "Mach" is the scientific unit for the ratio of the speed of a body in relation to the speed of sound. An impressive wow-effect is guaranteed with the first ride. With the option of a 120 mm fork, this efficient carbon arrow does not need to shy away from more demanding descents.
The Pivot Firebird is based on the geometry of the downhill racer Phoenix Carbon DH for smoother running and direct handling. As with Pivot's premium allround models, the Super-Boost-Plus installation width allows you to combine between 29" and 27.5+" wheel and tyre sizes. The rich 162 mm dw-link rear suspension travel and the 170 mm suspension travel of the Fox 36 fork in the front make the Firebird the perfect bike for endurists or hardcore riders.
