The Cosmic Ultimate was introduced 10 years ago and quickly became the wheel choice for pro racers seeking a competitive advantage.
With a NACA-inspired 40mm deep, 25mm wide full-carbon tubular rim profile, 20 super-bladed spokes, and high, thin carbon hub flanges, it offers a clear and proven aero advantage.
It is also ultra-stiff thanks to the unidirectional carbon fiber spokes that don’t stretch. These spokes run continuously from one edge of the rim to the other through the hubs (R2R technology) creating one single spoke instead of two. This eliminates the need to mechanically attach the spokes to the hub.
The rear rim is asymmetrical to improve the drive-side bracing angle, so spoke tension is balanced and the wheel stays stiff under the heaviest lateral loads such as sprints or attacks.
The rim is made of 12k carbon fibers wrapped over a super rigid foam core. Full-carbon construction means the whole wheel is incredibly light at just 695g.

Technologies:
TgMAX technology (Maximum Glass Transition Temperature) consists in laying up several types of high technology resins, then fixing them using a proprietary heat treatment process to achieve the highest possible resistance to braking heat. Consistent and efficient braking, whatever the climate conditions. The most reliable carbon rim, able to resist the highest abuse by the most brutal riders in the worst conditions.
FTS-L (Force Transfer System Light) - The reinforcement of the key transmission components brings a lighter and stronger hub to allow the energy to flow freely to the entire wheel.
QRM+ (Qualité Roulements Mavic® Plus) - Mavic's most demanding level. Those cartridge bearings are of course double sealed with C3 internal clearance, and toped with a micro-adjustability system. Tight tolerances for high rolling efficiency. Quick adjustment according to performance goals: precision "free" adjustment for maximum fluidity, or perfect high precision setting for all-weather rides.
R2R (Rim 2 Rim) - The continuous carbon fibre spoke joins one side of the rim to the opposite one, crossing the centre of the wheel through the hub flanges. Where a normal wheel uses 2 spokes, thus 4 spoke ends, R2R allows the use of only one spoke, thus 2 spoke ends.
Maintenance/care:
Clean with dry cloth or soap and water. Do not use pressurized water. Do not pull or press the spokes whilst handling the quick release skewer. Do not transport on a bike rack. Only transport the wheels in the wheel bags supplied. Avoid side shocks to the spokes.
