Description of GT SENSOR EXPERT 27.5" Mountainbike 2014
Aggressive Aluminium Trailbike!
The new GT Sensor is designed for the aggressive Trail Rider who is out ripping singletrack – and occasionally testing their racing skills while partying their way through a 24-hour race. The GT Sensor has a long front center, short stem, and wide bars to give you all the control you need on descents but without sacrificing climbing ability. With 130 mm travel on both the front and the rear, you have a bike that is very capable on a wide range of trails. Round all of this out with a comfortable and stable geometry, the new Angle Optimized Suspension, and you’ve got GT's most responsive ride yet.
6069 Hydroformed Aluminium Frame
The Sensor aluminium frame starts by eliminating the weight and bulk of gussets by putting the top tube through a 2-stage hydroforming process. Just like the Sensor Carbon, the Center Stiffness is high with a 2-part forged, welded bottom bracket and wide-set bearings that distribute the load across the axle. A stretched out top tube gives you great handlebar reach too, so your ride is cushy and supremely stable. In the rear of the bike, GT uses dual-bearing pivots to distribute the load and maximize the stiffness of the rear axle.
Time and again, GT's testing proved the superiority of the 650B wheel size when paired with their Angle Optimized Suspension platform. 29” wheels were the last big revolution (pun totally intended…) in the industry when it came to finding ways to take over obstacles and roll faster. The problem we set out to overcome when they designed the 650B is that 29ers are often cumbersome and hard to maneuver on the trail. GT wanted to build a wheel that rolled over everything in its path, but still offers superior handling and braking ability, closer to what you expect out of a 26” wheel. At 27.5”, the 650B takes the best of both worlds and gives you a ride that is not only fun, but expertly imagined.
Angle Optimized Suspension
GT continues to raise the bar in suspension technology with the launch of a completely redesigned full-suspension platform. This year they’ve taken on a whole new angle when it comes to suspension. When GT sat down to design the Angle Optimized Suspension (A.O.S.), they wanted to take into account the way you, your tires, and your bike attack every obstacle in both your strenuous uphill climbs and exacting descents. They cross-referenced that with the way your wheel actually moves when you come in contact with those obstacles and discovered that when your wheel tracks in line with the angle you’re hitting the ground, you get less wheel suck and more power out of every pedal stroke.
Centered On Rider
Whether you’re an all-mountain rider, a trail rider, or a downhill rider, you have different needs. GT believe that knowing why you ride, how you ride, and where you ride, allows them to design the best possible bike. That's the C.O.R. Philosophy.
GT's tapered head tube affords the same steering response and stiffness without suffering a weight penalty.
This GT Sensor Carbon Expert is equipped with Shimano SLX components for smooth shifting performance with 3x10 gears. Strong, hydraulic Formula RX disc brakes allow great braking power on the trail while the RockShox Sektor Gold RL fork provides unlimited fun with its 130 mm of travel and lockout function. The wide handlebar center provides maximum riding performance and the lightweight wheelset with wide WTB ST i23 rims forgives even a muffed hard landing.
Continental X-King tires provide a guarantee that acceleration forces transfer directly on the trail. Also adding to this enormous versatility is the KS LEV Integra dropper post. It saves the seat adjustment before and after downhill sections.
