Formula is pleased to announce that World Champion, World Cup winner, occasional enduro racer and full time fun rider Josh 'Ratboy' Bryceland will be riding their suspension and brakes.
Josh said:
"I've always had the best products. Or at least I thought I did. After trying the Formula products, I'm now sure I have the best suspension and brakes out there - they're even better than pistachio ice cream, and that's saying something."
Formula: "We built Josh "Rat Boy" Bryceland his perfect fork. Now it's available for you!"
When Formula asked Josh what his ideal fork would feel like he said that he wanted lots of traction and comfort at the beginning of the stroke, then to ramp up hard to soak up the hits. They ideas how to achieve this, so Formula met up with Josh to do some testing on his home trails.
Formula built Josh a custom Compression Tuning System valve. An evolution of the red CTS valve, this new valve maintains comfort and traction at the start of the stroke, then ramps up even more at the end. This is done by adding a second shim to the stack.
Formula fitted a low-progression air spring to Josh’s fork. Using the same hardware as the well-proven single air spring, this air assembly has a larger positive chamber to give a less progressive spring curve, making it easier to use all the travel.
The combination of the custom CTS and low-progression air spring gave Josh a fork with initial sensitivity for feel and grip, while retaining stability. To finish things off, Formula created custom Ratty graphics – which Josh used on his bike at Red Bull Hardline – and laser etching.
Josh now has his perfect fork, and Formula want other riders to have the opportunity to try it.
The ability of a fork not to bend is a key factor for maximum riding precision. A fork that rebounds too quickly can make riding unsafe as it no longer offers control, especially when braking and cornering. It is equally important that the fork is not too stiff, as this can make riding too strenuous.
Internal Floating Technology is what really sets Formula forks apart from other forks. Smoothness is very important for suspension performance. Many tests of stanchion coatings have concluded that they have minimal effect on friction. With the IFT, Formula wanted to approach this aspect from a completely different angle.
The Integrated Locking System completely improves the design of the thru axle. The lever is easy to remove and can be reinserted in practically any position. The ILS can be used on a rear axle that requires a tool to remove. In addition, the ILS is designed to prevent over-rotation of the front axle, making wheel removal quick and easy. For our weight-loving friends, the ILS can be removed without affecting the functionality of the thru axle.
