Thermo Shield

Thermo Shield is the basic treatment with which Edelrid treat all ropes to guarantee the proven suppleness of EDELRID ropes. This treatment is a thermal process that perfectly matches the core and sheath yarns. A special heat treatment causes the fibers in the rope to relax and shrink. This harmonizes the gliding properties of the yarns within the rope and makes the rope supple and compact. This produces ropes that neither shrink nor stiffen quickly.

Eco Dry

Perfluorinated and polyfluorinated chemicals (PFCs) and the PFAS sub-category in particular make outdoor equipment resistant to oil, grease and water. Once released into the environment, however, the chemicals degrade very slowly and therefore pose a long-term problem for the environment. With the Eco Dry finishing technology, Edelrid has succeeded in developing a process that is almost on a par with high-performance PFC and PFAS. Due to their three-dimensional core-sheath construction, the treatment process for ropes is very complex. This is because the finishing process must never jeopardize the safety and functionality of a climbing rope. The Eco Dry process fulfills all these requirements and is 100% free of PFC or even PFAS. The EDELRID Swift Eco Dry 8.9 mm is the world's first PFC- and PFAS-free rope that also meets the UIAA Water-Repellent Standard. It absorbs less than 1 to 2 % of its own weight in water. It is also bluesign®-certified and offers values comparable to the Pro Dry line in terms of durability, abrasion resistance and water and dirt resistance.

In combination with the well thought-out packaging design, it is now child's play to start climbing with the new rope straight away. Because it can be pulled out very easily. The markings on the rope and the detailed description on the packaging make it even easier to pull out, so that the rope can be used immediately without any annoying twisting and tangling.
