Innovations in Swimming for over 45 Years

In his position as Managing Director of adidas France, Horst Dassler was able to admire legendary swimmer Mark Spitz at the 1972 Summer Olympics in Munich as he won 7 gold medals with 7 world records and made history. Only one year later the first racing collection of the new brand arena was already available on the market. It was outstandingly light, felt like a second skin and was called Skinfit®.

Horst Dassler recognized early on how important close cooperation with the professionals would be and began sponsoring swimming greats such as Mark Spitz and Shane Gould shortly after the Olympic Games. At the time of the next Olympics in Montreal in 1976, arena was able to launch its own elite team, including its first collection of swim caps and goggles. The arena team won a staggering 44 Olympic medals and made arena a household name worldwide.

Various versions of their famous swimsuits, from the Flyback® of the 80s, to the Aquaracer® in the 90s, to the introduction of X-Flat® in 1997, flowed into the most innovative racing suits of all time at the beginning of the millennium as accumulated experience. World-class swimmers like Franziska von Almsick and Alexander Popov swam in Powerskin® from then on.

It was also a Powerskin suit in which Paul Biedermann succeeded in 2009 in defeating the probably greatest swimmer of all times - Michael Phelps - in his favorite discipline over 200 meters freestyle. Since this type of suit with polyurethane was banned by the International Swimming Federation (FINA) shortly afterwards, arena immediately looked for the next big breakthrough and found it in intelligent compression thanks to the integrated carbon fibre structure. The Powerskin Carbon suits (e.g. ST 2.0, Core Fx, R-Evo One or Pro) are synonymous with the success of the last almost 50 years and arena’s symbiosis with swimming.

Swimming and Triathlon Clothing for Training and Competition

In addition to the pure racing suits, arena naturally incorporates all its experience and technology into the entire range of swimsuits, jammers or even trisuits and wetsuits. In addition, there are lots of stylish and comfortable bikinis for girls and women or swimming shorts for boys and men, with which you can cut a good figure in the swimming pool, at the lake or at the beach.

For even more comfort out of the water, you can put yourself in bathing shoes, sandals and tops and your clothes and accessories in matching backpacks and bags
