Mammut - Over 160 Years of Expertise in Climbing & Extreme Mountain Sports

Founded in 1862 in Dintikon, Switzerland, as a small ropeworks in Kaspar Tanner's shed, Mammut can now claim to be one of the world's largest and most important suppliers of mountaineering equipment. Ever since the company was founded, climbing ropes have been one of Mammut's core competencies. Today, only highly technical and modern products are used and make so many alpine successes of the present possible.  By taking over Ajungilak and Raichle, Mammut gained expertise in sleeping bags, insulation and down jackets and hiking boots.

Mammut - High-Quality Outdoor Apparel for All Conditions

In 1995, with the Extreme collection, Mammut advanced from a pure hardware supplier to an outdoor full-range supplier and since then has also been offering Mammut outdoor clothing in the premium segment. In 2017, Mammut launched the fourth generation of the Extreme collection - Mammut Eiger Extreme - setting standards for alpine mountain sports clothing. Here you will find jackets and pants, but also equipment such as backpacks and sleeping bags for extreme scenarios - from high alpine expeditions and ski tours to ice climbing. Of course, the complete clothing line is available for men and women and covers all purposes and climatic conditions, such as soft shell jackets, down jackets, rain jackets or jackets with Windstopper and Gore-Tex

Mammut "Together for Glaciers" - Together for Climate Protection & More Sustainability

Mammut was the first outdoor brand to commit to the Fair Wear Foundation (FWF) to protect workers worldwide and to take responsibility for fair working conditions. Aware of its pioneering role and responsibility, Mammut has also signed the UN Fashion Industry Charter for Climate Action, committing to a 30% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions by 2030 (compared to 2018).

However, the rapidly progressing climate change is making the outdoor brand aware that greater efforts are needed. That is why Mammut has now launched the "Together for Glaciers" movement. The aim is to motivate people to act in a more climate-friendly way and to make an active contribution for solving the climate problem. To this end, the Swiss company uses its digital channels, its athletes, the Mammut Alpine School, its in-house repair service, and also cooperates with the NGO Protect Our Winters (POW). This is how the idea was born to use the material of worn climbing ropes to manufacture other products. The result of these joint efforts is the Mammut Close the Loop T-shirt, which is made of 100 percent recycled nylon and saves 67 percent CO2 emissions.

Since 2011, Mammut has been a member of bluesign®, currently the most stringent standard for consumer and environmental protection. In addition to clean manufacturing processes with minimum emissions, such as solution dye, Mammut also relies on sustainable recycled materials, PFC-free fabrics and organic cotton. When using materials of animal origin, Mammut pays attention to responsible and species-appropriate husbandry. Independent certifications such as the Responsible Down Standard and the Responsible Wool Standard guarantee that geese, ducks and sheep are treated well. This is also ensured by the reuse of recycled down (RE:DOWN). The same applies to the use of leather from suppliers that are at least Leather Working Group Silver certified.

To ensure that the high targets are not empty promises and remain visible for everyone to see and track, Mammut regularly publishes transparent status reports (Target Reports), which provide information about the ecological footprint, working conditions, animal welfare and clean manufacturing processes.
