Description of Trek TOP FUEL SL 9.8 Mountainbike 2016 - powder blue
The bike that defined 29er mountain bikes continues to lead the charge. The Superfly lineup of crazy-light aluminium and carbon XC rockets isn't just fast. It's the fastest.
If going fast is everything you're looking for, choose the 29er with the longest history at the top of the podium. Superfly is the pinnacle of cross country speed and efficiency.
The OCLV Mountain Carbon frame comes with a RockShox SID XX fork, Monarch XX shock (both with FullSprint Lockout), SRAM X1 1x11-speed drivetrain with X01 rear derailleur, DT Swiss X1700 wheels, Shimano XT disc brakes and racy Bontrager XR1 Team Issue tires.
OCLV Mountain Carbon - It takes advantage of Trek's patented OCLV process but the lay-up is adapted for the rigors of off-road use. By reinforcing select areas of the frame with unique materials, OCLV Mountain technology creates a strong, durable frame while preserving the low weight and great feel of a carbon fiber frame. Today, every carbon mountain bike they make is built using OCLV Mountain Carbon—carbon that’s tougher than the trail, without the added weight.
Full Floater - Most suspension systems attach the bottom of the shock to a fixed frame mount. That fixed mount can contribute to a harsh ride. Trek solved that with Full Floater, attaching the shock to two moving linkage points so it can better respond to bumps across a wide variety of terrain. It feels like more travel, but it's not. It's smarter travel.
Smart Wheel Size - One wheel size does not fit all. Trek put the right size wheel on every frame: 27.5” on 15.5” frames, 29er on 17.5” and up. Everyone wins.
Active Braking Pivot - Other full suspension systems firm up under braking, reducing your control when you need it most. Trek’s patented Active Braking Pivot solves that by keeping your suspension active whether you're on the brakes or off. When your suspension stays active under braking, you stay in control. You can brake later in a turn, maintain better rear wheel traction in stutter bumps, go faster, and just have more fun.
EVO Link - The exclusive EVO Link system connects the main frame to the rear triangle with a one-piece rocker link, creating a stiffer frame for greater control with minimal weight. It's a stronger, lighter rocker.
Mino Link Geo Adjust - Fine tune head tube angle by 1/2° and BB height by up to 10 mm with the simple turn of a nut. Just flip the link to choose between slack or slacker geometry, without negatively affecting suspension performance. A Trek exclusive.
Boost 148/110 - Wider dropouts (110 mm front, 148mm rear) give you the stiffness of a 27.5" wheel with all the benefits of a 29" wheel, and Boost148 in the rear lets you run wider tires and a larger chainring without affecting q-factor and pedaling efficiency.
Control Freak Cable Management - The lightest, quietest, most versatile cable management system allows any combination of shift, brake, lockout, and dropper post lines to be routed through the frame for clean looks and the ultimative custom setup.
Micro Truss - MicroTruss housing guides are built directly into the frame, for the lightest, cleanest external cable routing.
E2 Tapered Head Tube - E2 tapers from a 1.5" lower to a 1-1/8" upper to provide mare material where it matters most, for a stronger, lighter frame with point-and-shoot control.
Carbon Armor - Sometimes you need a little extra protection, so Trek developed their light, tough external Carbon Armor polymer shield. It provides reassurance when you know your down tube is bound to take some abuse.
