The FFWD F9 series is built for speed and includes the ultimate wheels for triathlon and time trials. The 90mm deep carbon rims feature an internally 19mm wide, proprietary DARC ‘Double Arc’ aerodynamic profile. The rims of the F9D-FCC wheels are handmade in the Netherlands of High-Tensile TC35 carbon. This gives the rims very high strength with sufficient stiffness.

FFWD have updated their logo and changed the complete design of the wheels. More straight forward lines resulting in a bit aggressive and fast design yet distinguished by the black on black color tones. The FFWD decals are made of special UV protected material which ensures the longevity.

As disc brake bikes are becoming more and more common among amateur riders and are fully approved by the UCI for races FFWD are now offering all models for disc brakes as well. From the alloy wheel set to the full carbon clinchers in all heights you can get your wheels with disc brakes.

As always FFWD wheels are built with DT Swiss straight pull hubs and spokes but now in a 2:1 ratio. This means the drive side of the rear wheel or disc brake side of the front wheel have double the amount of spokes compared to the other side. Result is a better spoke load in the critical zones and an increase of stiffness. On front wheels the stiffness increases with 12% where on rear wheels the increase is 22% when using the 2:1 spoke ratio
The DT Swiss 350 hubs offer the same performance as their even higher quality relatives, but have slightly less weight-optimized components and thus offer the same reliability at a significantly lower price.

FFWD uses High-Tensile TC-35 carbon for the majority of the lay-up. This gives the rim a very high strength with sufficient stiffness to cope with hard application of the wheels. FFWD actually uses multiple layers of different types of carbon. Only the outer layer is made of a 3K weave. Underneath this layer are layers of UDF (Uni-Directional Fiber) sheets. A mixture of different angles to resemble a uniform material. The different angles interconnect through the resin to make the wheel resistant to all kinds of forces.

All rims are molded with a process FFWD calls ECOM (Equal Compression). This means that the rims are molded with a custom-made air bag that has the inner shape of the rim. This makes sure that the pressure/compression is equal on the entire inner surface of the rim. Result is a practically void less rim section and a smooth wall on the inside of the rim. Without voids, the carbon sheets are completely fused into one system. The rim structure is much better and you can make the rim lighter and stronger.

All FFWD wheels are handmade and tested by the manufacturer, thereby small traces can be caused to the surface.
