Description of Tacx Satori Smart T2400 Cycletrainer

The interactive Satori cycle-trainer uses complex technology in a user-friendly fashion. You can connect the Satori to the Tacx Cycling apps quickly and easily. The Neodymium magnetic resistance unit is fitted with a system that measures the position of the magnet. It communicates to the tablet or smartphone using ANT+ or Bluetooth® wireless technology. The resistance has to set manually, but the screen displays your power output, speed and cadence. A coach can closely monitor your performance closely. The Satori focuses on improving your power as well as suppleness. The Satori is suitable for simple training sessions such as a cooling down and endurance training.

Technical details:
  • Software PC/laptop Tacx Cycling app
  • Operation Handlebar resistance lever
  • Resistance unit Magnetic
  • Realistic slope 10 positions
  • Descent simulation
  • Max brake power (10 sec.) 950 Watt
  • Sprint power (1 min.) 800 Watt
  • Mass inertia 16.93 kg (Flywheel effect: the higher the value, the more realistic the cycling experience)

Magnetic brake:
The magnetic brake has a simpler braking system and is therefore ideal for straightforward training sessions such as warming up before a race and endurance training. The road is simulated using different positions that you adjust yourself.
The Satori works with a magnetic brake. The position of the magnets can be adjusted so that the resistance is adjustable. The Satori Motion has a handlebar resistance lever the resistance can be set with in 10 positions. With these different positions a climb or headwind can be simulated. Max brake power is 950 Watt.

Tacx Cycling app:
The Tacx Cycling app for tablets and smartphones are quick and easy to use. With the Tacx Cycling app for tablets you can ride classic cycling races and legendary stages. You can also create your own training programmes and train according to heart rate, slope or power output, or use the pre-set fitness level tests. All your performance data is measured and displayed while you are cycling and stored so you can analyse them at a later stage. The Tacx Cycling app for smartphones allows you to train freely based on heart rate, slope or power output. Your performance data is displayed while you are cycling in form of ‘dynamic’ graphs. The applications for tablets and smartphones can be used in combination with any interactive Tacx trainer, in some cases an upgrade is needed.

Complementary app for tablet/smartphone:
Download the Tacx Cycling app free of charge from the App Store or Play Store. There are applications for iPads, Android tablets, iPhones and Android smartphones. You can order and download Tacx films using a Tacx Cycling app for tablets. The films of the Tacx Cycling app cannot be combined with films of the Tacx Trainer software.

Compatibility Tacx Cycling app:
Apple iPad 3 and higher; iPhone 4s and higher; iPod touch 5; Android version 4.3 and higher.

Terrible
I bought this trainer as an upgrade to my old trainer, a Blackburn Tech Fluid. The Blackburn has a reputation for being noisy, but it is nothing compared to the noise produced by the Tacx Satori. At high speeds, the noise level is so bad I can hear it above the loud music I listen to through my headphones.

But worse than the noise is the vibration that this turbo trainer generates. The vibration is excessive and makes it very uncomfortable to sit on the bike. In fact, I actually lost feeling in my 'sensitive' parts after a 30 minute session (something that never happens when I cycle on the road).

I should add that I have a proper training tyre and use the turbo trainer on a thick rubber mat.
