GONSO Bike Shorts - Functional Clothing for More Cycling Pleasure

Gonso started in 1926 in Albstadt-Onstmettingen on the Swabian Alb with the production of underwear and functional apparel such as training suits or long-distance apparel. Hans Gonser, the grandson of company founder Johannes Gonser, was only able to do sports on his bicycle in 1979 due to severe arthrosis, which soon resulted in severe injuries in the seat area. To counteract this, he had his Gonso development team sew a deerskin seat cushion into his shorts. At that time, professional cyclists were equipped with special cycling clothing by their sponsors, but there was not a single bike collection for hobby and leisure cyclists. Reason enough for Hans Gonser to change this: in 1980 Gonso launched the first collection of functional cycling clothing and the first cycling shorts with synthetic seat padding.

The objective behind the SITIVO concept was to create the perfect cycling shorts for every use and every seating position. Gonso has analysed the problem of aching seat bones in detail. It quickly became clear that in addition to material and cut, the seat pad plays a central role and, depending on the respective seating position, different pressure points are created that require different padding.
