Campagnolo Groupsets for Road Bikes - Innovation, Quality & Emotion Since 1933

Looking back on the history of bicycles, there is hardly a brand with a history that’s as fascinating and as inextricably linked with important milestones in bicycle development as the Italian premium component manufacturer Campagnolo. When Campagnolo was founded by Italian cyclist Tullio Campagnolo back in 1933, bicycle gear development was still in its infancy. At that time, it was still common practice to loosen the wing nuts on the rear wheel to change gears, turn the wheel around and place the chain over the sprocket on the other side. It was precisely this process that was the undoing of Tullio Campagnolo during a cycle race over the Passo Croce d'Aune, as he was unable to loosen the nuts with his icy fingers. Just three years later, he registered his patent for the first quick release, which meant you could change gears faster and is still used on modern bikes today. There was fierce competition at the time to be the first to develop a functioning gear change mechanism that allowed gear changes without dismounting. Many systems were launched on the market, but in 1940 Campagnolo succeeded once again, developing the first bicycle rod gears. Not only did these stand up to the test in everyday use, but they were also used in high-profile races such as the Tour de France and Giro d'Italia. As early as in 1949, Campagnolo presented the first prototypes for a pivoting parallelogram derailleur, a device which is still the basis for modern rear derailleurs today, operated via two Bowden cables on the down tube. This revolutionary system was ready for series production just two years later with the Gran Sport 1012, which, in its upgraded version, could be operated with one cable only. This system was further refined, culminating in the birth of the first Record rear derailleur in 1962, followed by the first Super Record Campagnolo rear derailleur in 1973, both of which remain the top groupsets produced by Campagnolo today.

Campagnolo Groupsets – Pure Performance & Aesthetics

Campagnolo's history, as well as their close connection with and passion for road cycling, have shaped the brand's image. Thanks to their countless innovations and outstanding quality and functionality, the component manufacturer has secured a well-deserved place in the premium and high-end segment. Campagnolo sets themselves apart from other brands through their passion for outstanding design and elegant aesthetic concepts, whilst also maintaining a focus on the safety and performance of their components - regardless of whether it's the Campagnolo wheelset, gears, brakes or crank, bottom bracket, chain and Campagnolo cassette. The products, their materials and dimensioning are developed with the utmost care, attention and precision, and the full package is rounded off with sophisticated ergonomics, efficiency and aerodynamics.
In 2018, Campagnolo presented their hydraulic Campagnolo road bike disc brakes with classic Italian flair, claiming "We may be the last, but we are also the best! Good things come to those who wait. As also confirmed by the fact that the Italians have brought the German disc brake experts Magura on board for their disc brake production. And Campagnolo doesn’t do things by halves, so their hydraulic Ergopower shifters/brake levers are particularly impressive: despite all the technology and hydraulics that go into the small levers, they are surprisingly slim - Italian design is a priority here too, as are the flawless ergonomics Campagnolo has always been known for.
Last in disc brakes, but first in 12-speed! Campagnolo defended their pioneering roll back in 2018 with the launch of their top groupsets Super Record and Record as 12-speed drivetrains. Unbalanced jumps between individual cogs is now finally a thing of the past, no matter the terrain.
In 2020, Campa introduced their first gravel-specific groupset as well as their first 13-speed drive system with the Campagnolo Ekar groupset. The Italians are also launching an exclusive gravel clothing range consisting of Campagnolo jerseys for men and women, as well as bib shorts and cycling socks.

Campagnolo Super Record & Record

Campagnolo Super Record is the crown jewel among Campagnolo groupsets - a truly top-class groupset refined with carbon and titanium, no corners cut. Its "little sister", the Record, does without this extra refinement, but does not differ from the Super Record in any way in terms of technology and functionality. As the first groupsets on the market with a 12-speed drivetrain, the two high-end Campagnolo groupsets mark a new era in road cycling - super-smooth gear changes, whether on the flat or on the mountain - almost like a continuously variable transmission. The Italian brand also makes the Super Record as an EPS (Electronic Power Shift) variant, an electronic Campagnolo gear system that can be perfectly adapted to the rider's individual needs using an app that has been specially developed.

Campagnolo Ekar – Become King of Gravel with a 13-speed Cassette

A 13-speed cassette, 9 cogs, no front derailleur, extremely light in weight and fully mechanical: the new Campagnolo Gravel groupset sets new standards in terms of gradations, functionality and race suitability. Whether steep serpentine roads or fast gravel descents, thanks to the enormously wide range - over 450% with the 9-42 teeth cassette - the first 13-speed drive system from the Italian brand is ideally suited to any and every gravel adventure. Of course, the innovative Campagnolo Ekar 1x13-speed Gravel groupset continues to rely on tried-and-tested Campagnolo technology from their high-end road bike series: Ergopower shifters/brake levers, hydraulic disc brakes and Ultra Torque axles. These features are complemented by solutions tailored to off-road use, such as Campagnolo's bottom bracket with ProTech sealing system.

Campagnolo Chorus

High-end features at an excellent price/performance ratio. The mid-range groupset Chorus offers the technology and functionality of the top groupsets Super Record and Record with slightly simpler materials. This makes it a versatile but high-quality product with a special appeal for the general public of hobby and amateur bikers. Technologically state-of-the-art, Campagnolo now also presents the Chorus as a 12-speed shifting groupset.

Campagnolo Potenza & Centaur

The Campagnolo road bike groupsets Potenza and Centaur prove that quality does not necessarily have to break the bank. With similar features, tried-and-tested Campagnolo ergonomics, reliability and an inimitable design, both groupsets provide an affordable solution for those who want to enter the world of road cycling.
And the special thing about Potenza and Centaur groupsets: the crank, shifters, front and rear derailleurs and brakes of the two groupsets are also available in a polished silver finish, perfect for lovers of classic bikes and vintage chic on the hunt for silver components to match their nostalgic steel frame. State-of-the-art technology, with a touch of retro.

Campagnolo Wheels – Synonymous with Quality, Performance & Aesthetics

In 1986, Campagnolo launched the Ghibli, the first disc wheel for time trial racing, with the Shamal coming shortly afterwards, the first complete wheel with high-profile rims. As with Campagnolo road bike components, Campa wheelsets have a clear focus on quality and performance and avid cyclists will find solutions for superior efficiency and aesthetics in the brand’s product portfolio. Campagnolo wheels are available in versions for both rim and disc brakes, and with a high, medium and low profile.
The Campagnolo carbon wheels in the Bora series are the benchmark when it comes to consummate high-performance road bike wheels. They can’t be beaten on weight, smooth running, rigidity or aerodynamics. The latest leap forward Campa have made in the evolution of wheels is the Campagnolo Bora Ultra WTO wheelset. Created in an avant-garde design process at the company’s headquarters in Vicenza, they deliver impressive performance and the ultimate in chic aesthetics.
Campagnolo aluminium wheels, however, are in no way inferior to the carbon models. Whether for training or endurance racing, from the premium classic Shamal to the reliable Zonda and Calima, Campagnolo aluminium wheelsets guarantee maximum performance and reliability.

Campagnolo Shamal Carbon – Campa Does Endurance

Campagnolo is breaking new ground once again with their new Shamal Allround wheels in carbon. By redesigning a classic, Campagnolo aims to generate maximum riding comfort and agility - no matter where and how long you ride. To this end, the Italians have given the Shamal a rim profile with an inner width of 21 mm, making it suitable for wider tyres. Thanks to the patented MoMag system, the rim well has no holes, which saves on weight, increases rigidity and makes it much easier to use tubeless tyres. The unidirectional High Modulus carbon rim profile and differentiated profile height ensure optimum energy transfer and the best possible levels of agility. The result: the first endurance Campagnolo wheelsets, for maximum performance and exceptional comfort no matter the length of your tour.

Campagnolo Levante – Gravel Wheels at Their Best

The first Campagnolo gravel wheels are the perfect addition to the legendary Campa Ekar groupset. Named after the warm easterly wind in the Mediterranean, the Campagnolo Levante wheelset combines all features to ensure maximum performance and elegance on any terrain: the ultra-light Levante rim made of H.U.L.C carbon (Handmade Ultra-Light Carbon) ensures an optimal weight to rigidity ratio, and thanks to the 2-Way Fit technology, it’s fully compatible with both wire bead and tubeless tyres. And as the rim well doesn’t have any holes, Campagnolo gravel wheels are not only lighter and more rigid, but also Tubeless Ready, no rim tape needed.
