Minion DHR II – Do It All & Everywhere

High grip and immense braking power characterize the second generation Minion DHR and make it the ideal tire for aggressive Gravity riding. The versatile folding tire owes these properties not least to its optimized tread design.

While supported side lugs ensure optimum lateral grip, the transverse center lugs, some of which are paddle-shaped, guarantee maximum control and traction when braking. To improve acceleration, the center lugs are also beveled. Strategically placed indentations in turn benefit the steering behavior. In addition, the Minion DHR II cuts an excellent figure not only as a rear tire but also as a front tire.

Features of the Maxxis Minion DHR II folding tire

  • 3C MaxxTerra rubber compound
  • Tubeless Ready carcass with DoubleDown (DD) puncture protection
  • Wide Trail (WT) construction adapted to wide rims

Triple Compound (3C) | The most important component of the tire is the rubber compound on the tread. Maxxis' 3C mixtures designed for mountain bikes use a harder base compound and two progressively softer compounds on top for optimum handling in the respective application areas. The side lugs are always softer than the center lugs. Different, individually optimized compounds are used for each area of application.

3C MaxxTerra | The MaxxTerra rubber compound represents the "golden mean" among Maxxis' Triple Compounds (3C). Compared to the MaxxGrip Downhill compound, MaxxTerra not only impresses with lower rolling resistance uphill, but also with greater durability. Compared to the XC-specific MaxxSpeed compound, the Enduro-compatible compound scores with more grip and traction.

DoubleDown Casing (DD) | Tires with DD Casing are the ideal choice for tough enduro courses. Constructed like the Downhill models from Maxxis, DoubleDown tires feature two carcass plies that are reinforced with a butyl insert in the sidewall. However, thanks to the use of two fine carcass plies with 120 instead of 60 TPI and aramid bead cores, they are significantly lighter than comparable Downhill tires and nevertheless still more robust than models with EXO+ Protection.

Tubeless Ready (TR) | Tires without tube have many advantages. Riding with less air pressure improves traction and rolling resistance is also lower than with inner tubes. In addition, the risk of punctures is significantly reduced by using a sealant instead of an inner tube, as small holes are immediately sealed again.

Wide Trail (WT) | Traditional tires were developed for narrow rims, which is why they are too angular on wide rims and can therefore no longer offer optimum performance. In contrast, the Wide Trail design from Maxxis relies on a tread layout and a tire shape that is tailored to modern rims. WT tires are optimized for 30 mm rims, but also demonstrate their advantages perfectly with an inner rim width of up to 39 mm.

Note: Tubeless Ready tires require tubeless compatible rims/wheels, tubeless valves, tubeless rim tape and sealing fluid for tubeless mounting. Sealant fluid is not required for tubeless UST tires, but is recommended for increased puncture protection. Installation should only be carried out by qualified personnel.
