Material 52100 High-Carbon Chromium alloy

This ABEC-3 radial bearing features 52100 High-Carbon Chromium alloy races paired with Grade 10 balls and dual-lip labyrinth (LLB) seals to withstand the outside elements, and to contain the 90% fill Mobil XHP 222 high pressure water proof synthetic grease.

LLB Seal

Enduro's most popular light contact seal. LLB seals are comprised of Nitrile material rubber with a steel insert and ideally suited for constantly spinning bottom bracket and hub bearings. Rather than one thick 2RS seal lip rubbing on a blunt surface, LLB type utilizes two razor thin sealing lips riding in the bearing race groove. The outer lip keeps the water and contaminants out, while the inner lip retains grease for smooth function and longer intervals between servicing.

C3 Clearance

The designation C3 for ball bearings means that the bearing has increased radial clearance (play) compared to standard clearance (CN/C0). It is used to compensate for thermal expansion of the shaft or high speeds, as the inner ring heats up and expands during operation without blocking the bearing.

Intended Use

Not a particularly popular bearing, this radial bearing has been used as a pedal bearing and as a pivot bearing on some older full suspension designs.
