Shop bicycle frame bags for bikepacking, racing & day rides at BIKE24

Two days on the bike. No backpack. No rear rack. Just you and your bike. That’s exactly where a frame bag shines: it keeps your gear centered low in the frame so handling stays balanced and predictable. Whether you’re chasing every second in your next ultra race, packing your gravel bike for the weekend, or just want quick access to snacks and your smartphone, we carry everything from compact top tube bags to full-size bikepacking frame bags. You’ll find models from specialized bikepacking brands as well as proven all-rounders, including Cyclite, Revelate Designs, ORTLIEB, Topeak, and ACID.

Why a frame bag is worth it

Whether you’re heading out for an after-work ride or a multi-day bikepacking trip, a frame bag keeps your gear exactly where it affects handling the least.

  • Balanced handling: Weight stays low and centered in the frame for stable, predictable handling.
  • Ride without a backpack: Take pressure off your back and shoulders and improve ventilation on long rides.
  • Quick access: Snacks, tools, and your smartphone stay within easy reach near the cockpit.
  • Versatile setups: From compact top tube bags for gels and bars to full frame bags for bikepacking, there’s a setup for every ride.

Different types of bike frame bags

Frame bags mainly differ in size, mounting position, capacity, attachment system, and materials. Compact top tube bags sit behind the stem and are ideal for snacks, your smartphone, or a multitool. Mid-size frame bags use part of the front triangle and hit the practical sweet spot between storage space and water bottle access. Large-volume frame bags add the carrying capacity you need for multi-day trips. Most models still leave room for at least one water bottle. Downtube bags create extra storage space for tools and spare parts.

Top tube bags for quick access

Top tube bags mount directly to the top tube, giving you instant access to snacks, gels, your smartphone, or a multitool while riding. Aero-optimized models are especially popular for gravel racing, ultra-distance riding, and ambitious day rides. Many models include magnetic or waterproof zippers along with cable ports for charging devices from a power bank.

Frame bags for day rides

Mid-size frame bags use part of the front triangle while still leaving room for one or two water bottles. Capacity typically ranges from 1 to 4 liters – enough for tools, a rain jacket, snacks, and a power bank. For most gravel, road, and MTB setups, this is the practical sweet spot between storage space and bottle access. Use the “capacity” filter in our shop to narrow down this size category.

Bikepacking frame bags for multi-day trips

Larger frame bags with 4 to 10 liters of capacity are built for multi-day adventures and ultra-distance setups. They offer enough space for food, tools, electronics, and extra layers over several days of riding. Most models still leave room for at least one water bottle, while full-volume designs that completely fill the frame triangle are less common. Hydration-compatible models with hose ports also let you run a hydration bladder directly inside the frame. Specialists like Revelate Designs and Cyclite use waterproof materials, welded seams, and roll-top closures for maximum weather protection.

Choosing the right bike frame bag

The right frame bag depends on three main factors: capacity, frame shape, and weather protection. A race setup for a 200 km gravel event has very different demands than a four-day bikepacking trip through the Alps. Frame geometry matters too: aero road bike frames offer much less space than high-volume gravel or touring frames. In our shop, you can filter by capacity, riding style, mounting system, and key features. Here are the most important questions to consider before buying.

How much capacity do I need?

For snacks and your smartphone, 0.4 to 0.8 liters in a top tube bag is usually enough. Day rides with tools, food, and a jacket typically require between 1 and 4 liters. Bikepacking setups generally range from 4 to 10 liters. Use the “capacity” filter in our shop to narrow down the right size for your setup.

Which mounting system fits my frame?

Most bike frame packs use hook-and-loop straps and fit almost any bike. Bolt-on mounting systems attach directly to bottle cage mounts for maximum stability, but require compatible mounting points on the frame. Quick-release systems are especially convenient if you regularly remove the bag.

Does a frame bag fit every bike?

Universal models with hook-and-loop straps fit almost any frame. Larger frame bags are more dependent on frame shape and geometry. Slim aero road bike frames offer much less usable space than larger MTB or touring bike triangles. Before buying, it’s worth measuring your frame triangle carefully. Our product pages include precise dimensions for height, length, and width.

Waterproof or water-resistant – which do I need?

Water-resistant frame bags are usually enough for day rides and mixed weather conditions. If you ride regularly in the rain or want to protect electronics, a fully waterproof frame bag with welded seams is the better choice. You can filter specifically for “waterproof” models in our shop.

Will I still have room for water bottles?

That depends on the bag style and size. Smaller frame bags almost always leave space for one or two bottles. Most bikepacking frame bags are also shaped to keep at least one bottle accessible. Only high-volume bags for ultra-distance setups completely fill the frame triangle. In that case, hydration-compatible models with hose ports are a practical alternative, or you can move your water storage to fork- or handlebar-mounted cages.
