Bike reflectors
Discover the range of bike reflectors at BIKE24
Early finish, late ride home – and suddenly your bike catches the beam of a car's headlights. That's when passive visibility matters. Bike reflectors are built from thousands of tiny pyramid-shaped microprisms that scatter incoming light and redirect it back to the source – without dazzling oncoming traffic. Other road users spot you early, with no battery or charge required. That means you're not just meeting the requirements of the StVZO (Germany's road traffic licensing regulations) – you're riding more safely on daily commutes and evening rides. You'll find everything you need to make your bike visible from every angle: from classic bike spoke reflectors to pedal reflectors and full rear reflector sets, in a wide range from trusted brands like Busch + Müller, Luxshield, and rie:sel design.
Why good bike reflectors make all the difference
Seven in the morning on the way to work, streets still dark – your setup makes all the difference for visibility and safety.
- Visible from every angle: Reflectors make you recognizable from the front, rear, and sides.
- StVZO-compliant: A complete set meets all legal requirements.
- No power needed: No charging, no battery changes – reflectors work every time.
Bike reflectors & rear reflectors at a glance
The StVZO requires reflectors in four positions: front, rear, on the sides of both wheels, and on the pedals. Each position serves its own purpose – the white front reflector signals your presence to oncoming vehicles, the red bike rear reflector warns traffic behind you. On the sides, bike spoke reflectors or reflective tire sidewalls make you visible at intersections and junctions. Pedal reflectors create movement-based visibility. On top of that, stickers, sprays, and reflective tape make you even more visible on the road.
Front and rear reflectors
A white reflector at the front, a red one at the rear – essential for any road-legal bike. Available in round, rectangular, and square shapes, they mount to the fork, handlebar, or seatpost via clamp. Large reflective surfaces ensure oncoming and overtaking vehicles spot you early.
Bike wheel reflectors & spoke clips
Classic bike wheel reflectors slot into the spokes with their side openings and slide toward the hub until secure – at least two per wheel. Tube clips attach to individual spokes via a side opening. Subtle during the day, they create distinctive light patterns at night depending on how they're arranged. If you'd rather keep the spokes completely clear, tires with an integrated reflective strip give you continuous side visibility.
Pedal reflectors
Orange-yellow pedal reflectors are required equipment under the StVZO. The characteristic up-and-down motion of pedaling creates a dynamic light pattern that other road users instantly recognize as a cyclist. If they're not already fitted, many pedals can be retrofitted with a compatible set.
Reflector stickers & accessories
Want even more visibility? Frame stickers in various shapes and designs give you exactly that – and since they're supplementary to the mandatory setup, you're free to choose any style. Stickers and adhesive tape apply directly to a clean frame or mudguard. Reflective sprays and reflector clips add extra visibility to helmets and backpacks too. What to look for when buying bike reflectors
Your child rides to school every morning and you want to make sure they're visible through the darker months? Or putting together a complete setup for a new e-bike? Either way, it's worth paying attention to mounting type, integration, and compatibility – not every reflector fits every bike. The following criteria will help you find the right setup quickly.
Which reflectors are required under the StVZO?
StVZO § 67 requires a white front reflector, a red bike rear reflector, bike spoke reflectors or reflective tire sidewalls on both wheels, and two yellow reflectors per pedal. Your bike is only road-legal with the complete set.
Do I need lights as well as reflectors?
Yes – the StVZO requires active bike lights alongside reflectors. At minimum, you need a white front light and a red rear light, powered by dynamo or battery. Many current front and rear lights already have a reflector integrated, so you cover two requirements with one component and don't need a separate reflector.
