Tiagra R4000 – Pure Road Riding

Authentic road cycling, enhanced with a wider gear range and more accessible than ever before. That is the 2x11-speed drivetrain system of Shimano’s redesigned Tiagra series. The mechanical shifting components are designed with a focus on practicality and user-friendliness. While the ergonomic and comfortable shift levers form the heart of the groupset, the CS-RS400 cassette provides the foundation for a lightweight road configuration that still offers a sufficiently wide transmission ratio to handle mixed terrain as well as steep climbs.

The dual-control levers of the Tiagra R4000 series adopt the advanced ergonomics of the renowned 105 models, whose design is based on research into different hand shapes to offer road cyclists greater comfort and control. Precision and safety are ensured by the first-class lever feel, the reliable deceleration power of hydraulic disc brakes and the smooth as well as intuitive shifting performance.

The hydraulic disc brake caliper at the level of the Tiagra series is characterized by consistent braking performance in all weather conditions. Despite its slim profile, the Flatmount caliper maintains its braking power even on longer rides thanks to a reliable 2-piston construction.

J-Kit (Easy Hose Joint System) | For brake systems with J-Kit brake hose connection, the brake lever has an integrated squeeze seal (olive), which makes the installation and removal of the brake line much easier overall.

Dual Control Lever (DCL) | The Shimano DCL levers combine braking and shifting functions in one control unit for easy as well as comfortable operation. In raising the standard of performance, their innovative ergonomics are even more important to consider than adding additional gearing. However, the highlight of the STI shifters (Shimano Total Integration) shifters, is the ability to change gears front and rear with just one finger. The Dual Control levers owe this not only to an extremely precise and smooth operation, but also to the same stability for which Shimano's MTB technologies are already known.

Ice Technologies | In order to keep the braking power at longer continuous operation consistently high, Shimano has developed the Ice-Tech cooling technology for brake discs and brake pads. Brake pads with Ice Technologies feature cooling fins made of aluminum, which better dissipate heat. In conjunction with the optimized radiation properties of the rotor, this results in a longer durability of the pads, while brake noise and fading are minimized.
