They set out to design bib shorts tailored precisely to this need and discovered that they didn’t require an elastic waistband—and that the extra 10 centimeters of fabric actually provided significantly more warmth. Those first Omloop shorts were designed for cool, dry conditions—just like the race that inspired them.

Fast-forward to 2026: Castelli applies this approach to the Espresso Thermal bib shorts. These new bib shorts are made from the warm and soft Thermoflex fabric of the Espresso 2 Thermal bib shorts and combine warmth, elasticity, and comfort in a performance-oriented design. It’s the ultimate transitional model—everything you loved about the Omloop Thermal Bib Shorts, now evolved for modern cyclists and longer rides.
