EU RED Directive on Wireless Transmission of Sensor Data: Under the EU’s RED (Radio Equipment Directive), certain cybersecurity requirements will become legally mandatory as of August 1, 2025. As a result, devices with built-in wireless technology must also comply with cybersecurity requirements under the Radio Equipment Act. Specifically, this means that users must be able to choose between open and closed transmission protocols between a cycling computer and sensors (such as a chest strap).
