To mark its 40th anniversary since its market launch in 1982, the 105 series is getting its ultimate upgrade with Shimano's electronic Di2 shifting technology. While retaining the typical series price level, the precise shifting function, precisely tuned gear ratios and a reliable braking system are now available to an even wider range of road cyclists. In keeping with the tradition of its predecessors, the current 105 is also equipped with the top technologies – such as the wireless cockpit – and first-class functions from the state-of-the-art Dura Ace and Ultegra series to enable riders to rediscover the road every single day.

With the step of the Shimano 105 components to the 12-speed shifting system, the gear steps of the cassette are also correspondingly smaller. The fine, revised gradation of the CS-R7101 sprocket set not only ensures optimum acceleration in all situations, but also excellent efficiency so that no pedaling energy is lost.

Even under maximum load, faster gear changes are possible with the CS-R7101-12, which also feel so smooth that gear changes are barely noticeable. With a gear ratio of 11 to 34 teeth, neither sprints on flat terrain nor steep climbs present a hurdle. In addition, the 12-speed cassette is also compatible with Shimano's previous 11-speed freehub bodies.
