In the current era of road and gravel cycling, low weight, precise control and enormous durability are among the decisive criteria. With the corresponding version of its innovative Shark brake disc, Galfer presents its most powerful model to date, which combines first-class materials with cutting-edge technology to meet the demand for maximum efficiency. 10 to 20 grams lighter than comparable brake systems, nothing is lost in terms of durability and reliability.

The ingenious internal fin and ventilation concept of the Shark technology, which has already proven itself in the MTB and off-road sector, is also able to set standards in terms of heat dissipation under extreme conditions in the road segment. In combination with the proven Wave design, demanding cyclists not only get a more stable and controlled response, but also a brake rotor with greater lateral stiffness and a noticeably longer service life. In addition, the construction forces both brake caliper pistons to work symmetrically, thereby avoiding unwanted friction. This not only improves braking performance, but also ensures an even wear of the brake pads. Attention to detail is evident in the Centerlock lock ring, which has been specially developed for use on the road and uses a notched locking system to prevent it from coming off on its own during prolonged use or hard descents.

From the peloton to the road. Galfer has developed the Road & Gravel version of its Disc Shark® brake rotor exclusively in collaboration with Lotto Cycling Team.

With the help of valuable feedback from a professional team that participates at the highest international level in World Tour events such as the Tour de France, the Vuelta a España and classics such as Paris-Roubaix, Milan-San Remo, Liège-Bastogne-Liège or the Amstel Gold Race, the brake disc model could be refined and optimized with regard to important aspects such as lateral stiffness, brake modulation and heat dissipation. The intensive competition use became a testing ground for practical application. The result is a component that meets the requirements of all riders looking for performance, low weight and reliability in a brake.
