Ultimate is not just a name, it's the perfect description of this Mavic wheelsets.

With its current 23c rim, ceramic bearings and a weight of 1260g, the full carbon Cosmic Ultimate remains Mavic's best allround performing wheelset.
Because the rim base is not drilled through, no rim tape is needed to make the rim airtight - this is the guarantee for problem-free tubeless operation.

With 20 ultra-slim aero spokes each and extra tall, narrow carbon hub flanges, it offers real and proven aerodynamic benefits. It's also ultra-stiff, thanks to spokes made of unidirectional carbon fibers that don't stretch. They run continuously from one side of the rim to the other - with R2R technology, two of each are replaced by a single spoke, which also doesn't need to be firmly anchored to the hub.

The rim is a full carbon monobloc construction. This 100% carbon construction results in an incredibly light weight: 560grams!

Adaptive Layup: Strong where it matters, light everywhere else

Carbon is lighter than alloy, but weight always add up. Using the right amount of fibers where the rim is less stressed to reduce rim weight with no compromise on reliability, this gives wheels that are livelier and more enjoyable while climbing. Up to 70g saved per rim.

QRM+ (Qualité Roulements Mavic® Plus).

Mavic's most sophisticated bearing technology: double seal and extremely true to size, micro-adjustable. Extremely true to size for maximum efficiency. Quickly adjustable depending on your needs: super-smooth for maximum smoothness, or minimally tighter for worse weather conditions.

In the hub bodies, industrial bearings with automatic bearing preload are used. At the rear wheel, the Instant Drive 360 freewheel ensures lightning-fast frictional locking (40 engagement points =9°) and the lowest friction losses. The hubs are thru-axle compatible (front 12x100mm, rear 12x142mm), only for center-lock brake discs. 

R2R (Rim 2 Rim)

Instead of 2 spokes (i.e. 4 spoke ends) as on conventional wheels, R2R requires only one spoke, with only 2 spoke ends. Aerodynamics, stiffness and stability are thus additionally increased.

Care/Maintenance

Clean with a dry cloth; if necessary also with soapy water. We strongly advise against the use of a high-pressure cleaner! Never apply tension or pressure to the carbon spokes when opening and closing the quick-release. We do not recommend transporting the bike on roof or rear racks. Always use the padded wheel bags for transport. Avoid lateral (impact) loads on the carbon spokes.

Mavic's "Mavic Care" program allows you to activate a 3-year manufacturer's warranty online for free up to 5 days after purchase for all newly purchased wheels, helmets and Comète Ultimate shoes. An image of the original purchase receipt is required for online registration. In addition, wheels registered with "Mavic Care" are covered by Mavic's Crash Replacement Program.
