The Icefall redefines the concept of alpine backpacks—especially when it comes to the balance between durability and weight. This weatherproof touring backpack is designed for professional mountaineers who venture into alpine terrain year-round and are looking for a reliable and spacious companion. With its larger size, it’s also particularly well-suited for longer tours.

Its spacious main compartment can be accessed not only from the top via a roll-top closure but also from the side—ensuring quick access even in technical terrain. Combined with the white, high-contrast material that makes it easier to find the backpack’s contents, the Icefall offers demanding alpinists the best possible performance.

Thanks to the newly designed attachment system, you can stow your skis or ice axes securely without wobbling; the Icefall also offers space for avalanche safety equipment in a spacious zippered front compartment. The highlight: if you want to reduce the weight of the Icefall to a minimum, compression straps and other features can be easily removed. 

To make the Icefall an indestructible mountain companion, EXPED manufactures the backpack from bluesign®-certified UHMPE fabric. This material is very lightweight yet extremely abrasion- and tear-resistant.
