The 48|53 GR wheelset was developed for gravel racers who want to get the most out of their setup. It combines Turbulent Aero technology with a wide, lightweight hollow-profile rim, providing optimal conditions for high speed, precise control, and reliable puncture protection. The 48|53 GR is designed to deliver high speeds all day long on flat terrain while offering a smooth, predictable ride. This is achieved through the “Turbulent Aero” design. The lower front rim reduces susceptibility to unstable handling in strong crosswinds, while the taller rear rim improves aerodynamics without compromising the bicycle’s handling.

Every detail of the 48|53 GR is engineered for speed. With an outer width of 44 mm, the rim optimizes airflow and maximizes aerodynamic efficiency. The inner width of 30 mm is specifically tailored to modern gravel tires and ensures greater grip, stability, and safety. The wheel is rounded out by a lightweight hollow-spoke design that combines high strength with additional puncture protection—without adding unnecessary weight.

Aerodynamic Optimization

The rim’s extremely wide 44 mm outer profile ensures that air flows smoothly over the tires and around the rim, reducing drag and increasing speed. This cushion of smoothly flowing air is the key to enhancing aerodynamic performance.

Hollow-rim Construction

The hollow-spoke construction allows for an extremely wide inner and outer rim without significantly increasing the rim’s weight. This design removes excess material from the interior of the rim, keeping it lightweight while still offering protection against punctures and high strength. Comes with a lifetime warranty.

30 mm Inner Width

The 30 mm inner width, optimized for modern gravel racing tires, allows the tires to sit wider on the rim, creating a larger contact patch for better grip. At the same time, the design prevents “lightbulbing”—a phenomenon where the tire sidewalls taper below the tire’s widest point, reducing the contact patch and potentially compromising handling.
