The ENVE XC28 is based on the latest developments in the M Series while also drawing on the proven durability of the AM30. The goal was to make ENVE’s high-quality carbon technology accessible to a wider range of riders without compromising on performance. The wheels are specifically designed for modern cross-country and trail riders who expect low weight, high responsiveness, and reliable durability. While the AM30 excels primarily in the enduro and gravity sectors, the XC28 takes on this role for athletic use in the XC and trail segments.
The design is specifically tailored to tire widths around 2.40" and draws its shape from the proven M5 and M6 models. This creates an optimal balance of compliance and control, ensuring a confident riding experience even on challenging terrain. The XC28 impresses with precise tracking on rough sections without sacrificing efficiency. At the same time, handling remains agile and responsive—exactly the characteristics that are crucial for cross-country riding and on fast trails.
Potholes and unexpected impacts are part of everyday riding—but they don’t have to lead to problems. The ENVE XC28 is equipped with innovative Wide Hookless Bead technology, specifically developed to reduce impact energy and increase the wheel’s durability. This particular design on the front edge of the rim distributes the forces more effectively, thereby significantly reducing the risk of punctures—for both tires with an inner tube and tubeless systems. The extra-wide rim edge further helps reduce the likelihood of punctures by more than 50 percent compared to traditional rim designs.
Using a patented manufacturing process, ENVE forms the spoke and valve holes directly during the manufacturing process, rather than drilling them afterward. This ensures that the carbon fibers remain unbroken and are specifically routed around the openings. Since carbon derives its strength from its continuous fiber structure, this process ensures significantly higher stability at the spoke openings. At the same time, material can be reduced in other areas, resulting in a lower overall weight without compromising load-bearing capacity. Another advantage of this design is the ability to safely accommodate higher spoke tensions. This significantly reduces the risk of spokes breaking and helps the wheels retain their shape longer, noticeably minimizing maintenance requirements.
The result is a wheel that is lightweight, exceptionally robust, and durable, while also delivering outstanding reliability in daily use.
