Dura Ace R9200 – Never Compromise

The Science of Speed. Speed was the mainspring in the development of this 12-speed road bike series of a new generation. Several years of research produced those innovations that make the Shimano Dura Ace R9200 even faster. Every component has been revised, refined and optimised to enable the decisive seconds of advantage – whether as a breakaway from the peloton or in the finish sprint on the Champs-Élysées.

The electronic Di2 parts rely on Wireless technology where it matters to make shifting even faster and more reliable. Smooth shifting is also the aim of the Hyperglide+ system, already known from the MTB segment, which is designed to bring out maximum performance and the full potential of every racer.

To keep pace with advancements in professional sports, which increasingly influence riding and grip positions, Shimano worked closely with top athletes during the development of the current Dura Ace Dual-Control levers. The result is lightweight controls that, thanks to the use of state-of-the-art materials, offer an outstanding level of ergonomics, whether during sprints, mountain stages, or time trials.

UNIQUE ERGONOMICS. The levers for hydraulic disc brakes feature taller, slightly inward-sloping horns. To achieve an optimal balance between comfort and control, the clearance between the brake lever and the handlebar has also been slightly increased. The shift buttons have been redesigned; they now have a larger size to be easily accessible from the lower handlebar position and are more distinct from one another to ensure intuitive operation even when riding with gloves.

LIGHTNING-FAST SHIFTING. Another feature of the disc brake version is its wireless functionality, which not only ensures a clean cockpit but also enables lightning-fast and precise shifting. Nevertheless, the shift/brake levers still offer a port for using additional shifters in the drops or the top of the handlebar. Compatibility with the improved E-Tube Project app provides numerous customization and configuration options; like previous versions, it allows you to adjust shifting modes (Synchro-/Semi-Synchro-Shift, Multi-Shift), shifting speed, and button assignments while riding.

CONTROLLED BRAKING. The Dual Control levers of the Dura Ace R9200 series also impress when it comes to brake performance. With its extended braking control range, the SERVOWAVE technology ensures excellent modulation, offering optimal comfort and control even under challenging conditions. For individual customization, the brake levers naturally also feature reach and free-stroke adjustment.

Dual Control Lever (DCL) | The Shimano DCL levers combine braking and shifting functions in one control unit for easy as well as comfortable operation. In raising the standard of performance, their innovative ergonomics are even more important to consider than adding additional gearing. However, the highlight of the STI shifters (Shimano Total Integration) shifters, is the ability to change gears front and rear with just one finger. The Dual Control levers owe this not only to an extremely precise and smooth operation, but also to the same stability for which Shimano's MTB technologies are already known.

Synchronized Shifting | Shimano’s Synchro-Shift technology greatly simplifies shifting and significantly reduces the number of decisions you need to make while riding. The system always selects the optimal next-higher or next-lower gear combination, regardless of whether the shift is made at the rear derailleur and/or the front derailleur. In addition to the conventional manual mode, in which the front and rear derailleurs are controlled independently of one another, Synchro-Shift offers two additional modes:

• Full Synchro-Shift. The front derailleur responds to the shifting operations the rider performs on the rear derailleur. Essentially, this means that only one shift lever with two switches is needed to operate both the rear and front derailleurs.

• Semi Synchro-Shift. The rear derailleur responds to the shifting operations the rider performs on the front derailleur. In doing so, the rear derailleur automatically performs the necessary compensatory shifts for small changes in cadence when shifting up or down on the front derailleur.

SERVOWAVE | Because the brake lever absorbs a lot of brake travel right at the beginning of its movement, the brake pads come into contact with the brake disc more quickly and more lever travel remains for modulating the braking force. Accordingly, SERVOWAVE brake systems are characterized by faster response, higher performance and shorter idle travel.
