How do
With a larger rim size of 62mm and an impressive outer width of 45mm, the Streem G.62 wheels set the bar for extreme performance without losing sight of weight. Why? Because modern gravel races are getting faster and faster, and with average speeds approaching 40km/h, they place particular demands on aerodynamics. Through extensive wind tunnel testing, Newmen was able to maximize the efficiency of the Streem G.62 wheels at high speeds while harnessing the full potential of the proven
The brief was clear: a gravel wheel set designed without compromise for aerodynamics, optimally tuned for modern gravel tires. The G.62 opens a whole new chapter in gravel racing. Thanks to its wide inner width, modern tires can be ridden at optimal air pressure—meaning more grip, more comfort, and faster rolling performance. The combination of outer width, rim height, and tires ensures the best aerodynamics—all perfectly tuned to each other and tested in the wind tunnel.
To perform well in the wind tunnel, the tire should not be wider than the rim. With an outer width of 45mm, the G.62 rim meets the requirements of modern gravel tires. Air flows over the tire and can re-establish contact at the rim edge. To prevent the tire from becoming excessively wide and ultimately protruding beyond the rim on both sides, the rim’s inner width must not be too large. With a sweet spot of 27mm, Newmen was able to meet both aerodynamic requirements and the demands of riding comfort. 27mm provides sufficient lateral support at low tire pressures and allows the tire side walls to flex comfortably. With rims that have a larger inner size, comfort suffers increasingly because the side walls of the gravel tires stand too straight and flex noticeably less.
Moreover, the Streem G.62 wheels aren’t just noticeably fast; thanks to their wide width and sophisticated rim shape, they remain more controllable than competitors with lower rim heights — even in strong crosswinds. Sound too good to be true? It’s true, as proven not only by wind tunnel measurements but also by initial real-world experience at the Final Frontier in Patagonia.
Like all road and gravel wheels, the G.62 rims feature a rim flange with hooks. This ensures safety even at high tire pressures and effectively prevents the tires from coming off. In addition, the well-known
