The classic design of the Highpile Jacket is inspired by Mountain Equipment’s original fleece jackets from the 1970s and 1980s. It evokes the golden age of Himalayan expeditions, when budgets were tight and ambitions were high. The Highpile is soft, warm, and very stretchy, offering excellent moisture management. This makes it an ideal midlayer for mountaineers and hikers looking to brave the cold. With its retro look, the Highpile Jacket is at home anywhere, from spartan mountain huts to everyday life in the valley. The high-pile fleece is soft, stretchy, and feels comfortable against the skin. It also effectively traps heat against the body and dries quickly. It’s made from 100% recycled post-consumer waste. The shoulders and elbows are reinforced with weather-resistant softshell to protect against abrasion—a nod to Mountain Equipment’s first fleece models. Zippered hand pockets keep cold hands warm, while the close-fitting hood offers additional protection from wind and cold. The Alpine Fit and excellent stretch ensure unrestricted freedom of movement and work exceptionally well in a layering system.
