The Mavic COMETE 45/55 carbon wheelset combines advanced aerodynamics with an ultra-lightweight design and exceptional mileage. The flatter front rim ensures low drag and safe, precise handling, while the taller rear rim maximizes rolling speed without compromising on weight or responsiveness.
Thanks to Adaptive Layup carbon technology and aerodynamic carbon spokes, this wheelset rides with agility during acceleration and efficiency at high speeds. Years of wind tunnel development and real-world testing have led to a new generation of Aero Wide rims, optimized for 30 mm tires. The result: a wheel that’s not only faster in all wind conditions, but also lighter, more responsive, and easier to accelerate - from flat stretches to steep climbs to technical descents.
This 45/55 combination is lighter and more agile than the 55/65 combination and is therefore better suited for steeper climbs than for gently rolling roads.

Ultimate Rolling Efficiency

This wheelset is based on 25 mm-wide Aero-Wide rims and is optimized for 30 mm-wide tires. It offers an outstanding balance of aerodynamics and rolling efficiency. Every detail has been validated through wind tunnel testing, tests in the Mavic Lab, and feedback from professional riders, and optimized for speed. The 21 aerodynamic carbon spokes minimize drag while increasing lateral stiffness, resulting in a direct and responsive ride feel. Combined with Mavic ceramic bearings, friction is reduced to a minimum—for smoother, faster rolling and a feeling of effortless speed on every ride.

The adaptive layup construction, featuring a balanced blend of carbon fibers (T700, T1000, 3K), achieves the perfect balance between stiffness, weight, and riding dynamics. This optimized structure gives the wheels an exceptionally agile ride feel with instant acceleration and direct responsiveness when pedaling. Lightweight aero carbon spokes efficiently transfer every watt and underscore the wheel’s dynamic and sporty character. Internal tests show that the 21/21 spoke configuration (14/7 per side) offers the ideal ratio of stiffness, weight, and aerodynamics, ensuring precise handling and perfect tension distribution.
