Everything in the world progresses, including Cross Country mountain biking. XC tracks are becoming harder, with steeper uphills and more technical descents. Man-made obstacles such as berms, drops, logs and waves demand everything from riders and their equipment. That is why DT Swiss developed the 232 ONE platform components: Engineered to push the boundaries of Cross Country even further. Defining the benchmark in performance to weight.
The topology-optimized lower of the DT Swiss F 232 ONE fork results in a benchmark stiffness-to-weight ratio offering between 100 and 120 mm of travel at a weight starting from 1,480 grams. Combined with the XC-optimized LINE AIR spring curve and the three-position IN CONTROL damping, the F 232 ONE is ready to chase – whether it is for a podium or a KOM.
The F 232 ONE sets a benchmark in stiffness-to weight ratio by using topology optimized design, a method that structures the layout of materials within a design space for a specific set of loads and constraints. The method removes material wherever it is not necessary resulting in the ideal ratio between stiffness and weight to maximize the performance of the system.
The two most important factors to consider to guarantee maximum performance are torsional and bending stiffness. Torsional stiffness ensures that a fork feels precise. Bending stiffness is required to ensure that the stanchions do not tilt in the bushings and therefore guarantee superior performance. In order to maximize the performance of the 232 ONE, the target stiffness and strength were defined based on experience, athlete input and data collected both in the laboratory and in the field. The weight was then minimized using topology optimization.
LINEAIR is a dual-air chamber system. Through the size of the air chambers and position of the bypass, the characteristic of the spring curve is specifically tuned to meet the needs of XC riders. A low breakaway force for traction, a linear but flatter mid-stroke section that allows you to float over root carpets and an end progression to eat the big hits.
Compression damping is defined by the amount of oil which can flow in different channels. The smaller the channels, the higher the flow resistance and the higher the damping. INCONTROL damping provides three on-the-fly damping adjustments offering the perfect compression tune for every riding situation by opening and closing different channels.
The Adaptable Progression Tune (APT) system allows the rider to adjust the progression of the air spring curve by adding or removing volume spacers in the fork's air chamber. This enables riders to adjust their spring curve to their riding style and the trails they are riding. The beauty of the system lies in the fact that the fork’s suppleness is unaffected, regardless of the setting chosen.
