With the original Ratchet System, two springs were required for correct function because the internal sprocket was not attached to the hub shell. The integration of the toothed disc and threaded ring in the Ratchet 36 SL System hub not only increases the service life, but also reduces the number of components by using a single spring. It also reduces the weight of the freewheel system.
The tight connection between the inner sprocket and the hub shell of the Ratchet 36 SL System hub ensures that the inner sprocket is always aligned at the correct angle. The use of a single cylindrical spring allows for faster, complete engagement, providing greater reliability.
Ratchet System hubs are unique in that all the teeth of the two discs engage simultaneously every time. In the case of ratchet hubs, the meshing area is quite small.
