Changing road surfaces and weather conditions can hardly harm the DT Swiss ERC 1100 DICUT wheelset. Thanks to the AERO+ concept, which is dedicated to the management of air and friction resistance of any kind, the rider always retains full control.
However, the rim profile not only guarantees outstanding crosswind stability, it was also designed to allow the use of wider tires and thus ensure sufficient comfort – from the beginning to the end of every tour. No component has been left untouched to get one step closer to aerodynamic perfection, be it the special T-Head spokes or the 180 DICUT hub. The latter also knows how to convince with its ultra-smooth running SINC ceramic bearings on a technical level. At the rear wheel, the proven Ratchet EXP freewheel system converts every pedal rotation precisely into propulsion.
While the version with 35 mm profile height is thanks to low weight and agile handling a reliable companion in mountainous terrain, with its sophisticated aerodynamics, the higher 45 mm variant provides effortlessly for maximum speed both on climbs and in fast descents.
The symbiosis of drag, handling and efficiency. The AERO+ development concept pursues a single goal: higher speeds! To achieve this, the designers of DT Swiss dedicated both translation and rotational air resistance, as well as rolling resistance and steering torque. The optimization and perfect meshing of these factors allows AERO+ wheels to create a sailing effect in crosswinds, which pushes the bike forward and thus gives it additional thrust.
Legendary reliability | The Endurance wheels of the ERC DICUT series benefit from the findings of the already proven AERO+ development concept, which benefits both aerodynamic performance and long-distance comfort. Thanks to manual work, not only a precise manufacturing quality is achieved, but also the well-known, brand-typical reliability is ensured.
Tubeless Ready | Tubeless tires offer some decisive advantages over the conventional combination of tire and tube. The tire can be ridden with less pressure without risking "snakebites" and thus offers more grip. The lower pressure also provides a more comfortable ride. The absence of the tube means that there is no friction between the tube and tire and therefore rolling resistance is lower when riding off-road and over obstacles.
Ratchet freewheel system | The special feature of the patented freewheel system is that all teeth of the two installed ratchet pulleys always mesh simultaneously. Compared to pawl freewheel hubs, where the engagement surface is comparatively small, the loads are distributed evenly over a large contact surface by including the entire face surfaces. The result is lower point loading and thus significantly higher reliability.
Pro Lock technology | The DT Pro Lock spoke nipples prevent an independent loosening of the spoke-nipple connection. A patented two-component adhesive is injected into the nipple thread, which allows the construction of extremely durable wheels. Once the nipples are screwed in, the adhesive is activated and then fully cures. Repeated re-centering is possible without any problems, although the adhesive strength decreases slightly with each re-centering.
