Details of the Mavic Crossmax SL Ultimate

The adaptive layup technology enabled Mavic to handcraft these carbon rims with less material between the spokes. The spoke holes are reinforced with strategically positioned carbon layering in a process that minimizes weight without compromising stiffness and strength. A lighter rim means faster acceleration, more efficient climbing and a more responsive feel on the trail.

Extensive testing with professional athletes revealed that an inner width of 25mm as ideal for light-footed, precise riding characteristics and optimized tire grip on fast race tracks. On more technical trails, some preferred a 30mm inner width for optimized tire grip and more control on singletrack. The rim features 24 crossed straight-pull spokes for maximum power transfer and improved vertical compliance. The Infinity hub design optimizes lateral stiffness and the spoke insertion maximizes power transmission.
