Shimano L05A resin disc brake pads with aluminum backing plates and Ice-Tech cooling fins. 50% improved wear resistance compared to the previous model, the L03A. Recommended for XTR, Dura-Ace, Ultegra, 105, Tiagra, GRX, and Metrea brake calipers.

Composite brake pads are quieter than metal brake pads, but offer slightly lower performance and are subject to greater wear. Compared to composite brake pads, metal brake pads have a longer service life, are more resistant to fading, and provide consistent braking performance in both dry and wet conditions. Metal brake pads may produce noise during braking.
Brake fade impairs braking performance during prolonged, continuous use. Shimano has introduced brake rotors and brake pads featuring Ice-Tech to provide cooling technology that ensures consistently high braking performance.
The brake rotor features a three-layer sandwich structure consisting of stainless steel on the outside surrounding an aluminum core. It dissipates heat more effectively and reduces the surface temperature. The brake pads, meanwhile, feature aluminum cooling fins that further optimize heat dissipation. The disc’s construction, combined with the cooling fins, results in a lengthened pad life, less brake noise, less fading, and also reduces weight.
