When fizik began developing a race-ready Gravity mtb shoe, the feedback from top pros was clear: Both downhill and enduro riders want a protective and durable shoe that improves bicycle control through the pedals.

Lightweight Performance and a Precise Fit
But in addition to control, they also wanted the lightweight performance and precise fit found in more performance-oriented shoes—a combination that’s missing from most gravity mtb shoes. So fizik set out to develop a truly unique product: a lightweight and agile, yet sturdy racing shoe that meets all the demands of leading downhill and enduro mtb riders.

Sole and Riding Control
Starting with the outsole. Along with your hands on the handlebars, your feet are a crucial point of contact for controlling the bike. The Gravita outsole provides exactly the shoe-to-pedal connection needed for fast and aggressive gravity riding by combining the grippiest Vibram XS Trek Evo rubber compound with a special zonal lug pattern. A flat, tapered tread pattern in the midfoot ensures immediate contact and optimal mechanical engagement with the pedal pins, while a deep, sharper tread pattern under the heel and toes provides better traction when riding back up a slope.

Pedaling Efficiency
This clipless pedal version is stiffer than its flat-pedal counterpart and ensures better power transfer throughout the entire pedal stroke, which improves pedaling efficiency. With an extended cleat rail, the clipless version allows you to position the cleats further back to lower your heel during descents, thereby improving both stability and control—just like with flat pedals.

Precise, Performance-Oriented Fit
In both downhill and enduro racing, short, intense, and powerful pedal strokes are key—whether sprinting out of the starting gate or in the final meters to the finish line. Optimal foot tension and fit are crucial for efficiently transferring every watt of generated power. To prevent energy loss, fizik has applied years of expertise to the development of perfectly fitting cycling shoes. For the Tensor, fizik has developed an ergonomic lacing pattern that wraps around the foot and distributes tension evenly during the pedaling stroke. A power strap across the instep secures the fit, stabilizes the arch, and locks the heel in place, while also holding the laces in position.

Targeted engineering ensures weight savings and eliminates excess material that would otherwise result in the bulky look and poor fit typical of gravity shoes.
