The mono chainring design forms the perfect basis for use on Gravel trails. In addition to significantly reduced weight, increased chain retention and the avoidance of particularly unfavorable constellations between chainring and cassette sprocket, the absence of a front derailleur also means fewer moving components that can collect dirt and get caught. No less well thought-out is the clever use of materials, which characterizes all components of the Ekar GT series. Here it is the combination of aluminum crank arms and a 2-piece stainless steel shaft that combines lightweight construction with maximum efficiency and durability.

Also made of aluminum is the lightweight, durable and also easily replaceable chainring, which can be detached without removing the entire crankset. Thanks to ProTech™ technology, not only are the shaft halves inside the bottom bracket connected by a single heavy-duty bolt, but the stainless steel bearings are also excellently protected against dirt. The Oversize bearing rings themselves are located directly on the crank, mounted on the half axle to ensure maximum smoothness and strength. They are also easier to access for inspection and maintenance work without having to remove the bearing cups.

While the symmetrical arrangement of the crank arms ensures optimum load distribution, the Q-factor of 151 mm guarantees a comfortable and effortless pedaling style, regardless of the rider's height. To avoid getting stuck on uneven terrain, the Ekar GT crankset is available with different arm lengths, the shorter of which are particularly suitable for Gravel bikes with a low bottom bracket. Even more extensive is the selection of available chainring sizes, which enable optimum adaptation to the respective route type: from a focus on light cadence (36 teeth) to excellent Allroad properties (38/40 teeth) through to riding on flat roads or use on an E-Bike (42/44 teeth).

Ultra-Torque™ | The system, which uses two shaft halves that are inseparably connected to the respective crank arm, has no need to fear comparison with an integral crankshaft in terms of torque transmission. A single Oversize bolt ensures a secure connection, which also makes assembly easier. A larger diameter and the bearings located outside the bottom bracket housing, which enable an increased support width, also make the entire construction stiffer. The Hirth face gearing, which originates from engine construction, also benefits torsional rigidity and also gives the Ultra-Torque™ crankshaft self-aligning properties.
