What is an Ultra Unit?

The Ultra Unit is a unit of measurement containing exactly 45g of carbohydrate in a 1:1 carbohydrate mix. The Ultra Unit provides consistency within our 6d Ultra Series, making it easy to supplement individual energy needs during exercise.

Why does an Ultra Unit contain 45 g of carbohydrates?

The carbohydrate intake of ultra-endurance athletes is increasingly up to 120g per hour, which is more than the usual 90g. However, the Ultra Unit contains exactly 45 g of carbohydrates, allowing endurance athletes to easily and accurately achieve a carbohydrate intake of 90 g per hour.

Why a 1:1 carbohydrate ratio for the Ultra Unit?

During exercise, the absorption of glucose from the gut into the bloodstream is limited to approximately 60 - 70 g per hour, which is why more fructose is needed for maximum carbohydrate absorption when consuming more than 90 g of carbohydrate per hour. Therefore, a ratio with a higher fructose content, such as our 1:1 carbohydrate ratio as a supplement to the 2:1 carbohydrate ratio, is essential to provide athletes with flexible options.

What about electrolytes?

Fluid and electrolytes (especially sodium) are essential for optimal hydration. The more you sweat, the more you need fluids and electrolytes. How to use
