The Oreus Jacket is the result of a five-year development project. The aim was to make what Mountain Equipment consider to be the best synthetic fiber jacket in midweight quality. After failing to find a satisfactory solution for synthetic insulation on the market, they developed their own technology - a fabric made from heat-reflecting fibers. The patent-pending Aetherm™ Precision insulation, used exclusively by Mountain Equipment, is warmer than any other material with the same weight, while being more breathable and compressible. The prototypes of the Oreus Jacket have already been extensively tested in the mountains around the world - from the Alps to Patagonia and the Karakoram. The Mountain Equipment athletes have come back with enthusiastic feedback and have swapped their lightweight down jackets for the Oreus: the tremendous warmth, functionality and greater resistance in demanding conditions have convinced them. The Oreus jacket is one of the most versatile pieces you should have in your outdoor kit. It is suitable for everything from alpine climbing in the high mountains to ski tours in the Alps, mountain hiking in Scotland or rock climbing at higher altitudes. It works just as well as an outer layer as a super-warm mid-layer or as a lightweight belay jacket. Its thermal performance, short drying time and low weight and pack size make it the ideal companion for many mountain sports activities.
