The SAFEWING 30 XC Pi Rope is a high-end wheelset optimized down to the last detail, developed for all those who demand the highest standards of function and workmanship. The SAFEWING 30 XC Pi Rope is equally suitable for racing and for sporty rides on demanding trails.

The concept is not based solely on minimum weight or maximum stiffness, but on a balanced combination of lightness, stability, stiffness and comfort. The carbon rim with 30mm inner width is based on the patented Safe-Wing design, which provides wide support for the tire, cushions punctures and enables lower air pressures - for noticeably more comfort and traction.

rims

The SAFEWING 30 XC rims are manufactured by hand. The spoke holes are pierced before the rim hardens so as not to damage the carbon fibers. The rounded rim flanges of the Safe-Wing design protect the tire sidewall in the event of punctures and prevent it from buckling when cornering. Thanks to the precise processing, no painting is necessary; a multi-stage polishing process with final surface sealing ensures the characteristic matt shine.

Hubs

The hubs come from Nonplus Components in Winnenden and combine functional lightweight construction with innovative design features. The freewheel mechanism offers a 400% larger contact surface than conventional systems and uses a 45-tooth taper for loss-free power transmission and low wear. A self-adjusting bearing clearance ensures that the bearings are automatically optimally adjusted when the thru axle is tightened - for perfect smooth running and a long service life.

Spokes

The textile spokes from the Chemnitz-based company Pi Rope are made of the high-performance material Vectran, which is only subjected to tensile stress and offers high tensile strength. Each of the spokes, weighing just 2 grams, is braided from 300 individual filaments, cut by hand and fitted with metal end pieces. The wheelset has 28 black spokes per wheel; the nipple seats are larger in accordance with the Pi Rope design.
