303 XPLR – Go Big. Go Gravel.

Many of today’s carbon gravel wheels are simply repurposed road bike wheels. This approach creates problems for the rider that ultimately slow them down. Thanks to their mega-wide high-profile rims, the 303 XPLR S and SW wheelsets from ZIPP are blazing new, purpose-driven trails for gravel bike innovation, addressing the dilemma that arises from unfavorable tire/rim combinations regarding aerodynamics, tire pressure and puncture protection.

Without carrying an expensive price tag, the "S" model of the 303 XPLR series represents an effective upgrade for all gravel athletes. These fast wheels incorporate many of the key innovations from ZIPP’s premium models for gravel use, without compromising on durability. To meet high-performance demands, the design philosophy known as “Total System Efficiency” comes into play, which ZIPP has adapted here to address the challenges of gravel riding.

The series’ signature wide rim size, combined with tires perfectly tailored to the 303 XPLR wheels, not only reduces air resistance but also minimizes vibrations that are caused by uneven terrain and act as a barrier, ultimately slowing the rider down. Another advantage of the wider rim profile is the increased air volume, which makes it possible to ride with lower tire pressures without sacrificing stability. This further means that both the necessary grip for navigating corners is maintained and sufficient traction is available for tackling steep climbs. Another advantage of the well-designed rim profile is the seamless transition to the tires, which is essential for even more efficient aerodynamics. And despite their expanded dimensions, the 303 XPLR S wheels remain light enough to allow the rider to recover quickly.

Tubeless Straight Side (TSS) | Hookless Tubeless or Tubeless Straight Side describes the design of the rims. Tubeless-compatible rims can be ridden without a tube, but a setup with a tube is also possible. Hookless or Straight Side describes the shape of the rim flange, which in this case is straight and designed without the classic hook. This design offers advantages in terms of greater impact resistance of carbon rim flanges.

Notes and recommendations:

• Tire pressure: ZIPP specifies the maximum air pressure as 3.45 bar (50 psi). Depending on the tire width, air pressures below 2.1 bar (30 psi) are also possible thanks to the ultra-wide inner rim profile.
• Inner tube: The use of an inner tube is possible, but only in combination with hookless-compatible tubeless tires. We recommend the XPLR Slick and XPLR Inter tires, developed in cooperation with Goodyear, which are specifically tailored to the 303 XPLR S rims.
• Warranty: ZIPP offers a lifetime warranty on the 303 XPLR S wheelsets, covering all structural damage. Regular seasonal maintenance is required. Parts requiring frequent maintenance, such as spokes, bearings and worn freewheels, are not covered by the warranty.
