Do you remember when everything where simpler? STEAMROLLER remembers. 

The Surly STEAMROLLER is a special single-speed/fixed-gear commuter bike that handles potholes, shortcuts across grassy areas, urban trails, and back alleys with ease. It first hit the market back in 2000 - when bikes still had triple chainrings, the “Triple Rock” was still open, and our knees didn’t make any noises yet.

Now this steel classic is back for a limited time. The STEAMROLLER’s road-ready, butted 4130 chromoly steel frame and 700c x 38 mm tire clearance made it, over its 23-year run, it became an integral part of the fixie boom, a favorite among couriers, and a reliable companion on the way to work, to concerts, and to seedy bars.

The STEAMROLLER combines track-bike features—such as a 120 mm rear wheel spacing and compatibility with track cranksets—with details for greater everyday comfort, including road bike geometry, rim brake mounts, and new brake cable routing for a cleaner rear brake setup. No derailleur hanger, no carrier mounts—you don’t need them anyway. The STEAMROLLER is available exclusively as a frame set—all the better for customizing it exactly to your liking.

Features of the Surly STEAMROLLER:

• Road bike geometry with track-bike features: 120 mm rear wheel spacing, track-bike-compatible bottom bracket height, compatible with track-bike cranks 
• Frame and fork made entirely of Surly 4130 CroMo steel; butted main triangle, TIG-welded
• Brake cable mounts for cleaner rear brake routing;
• 1-1/8" threadless CroMo steel fork, brazed
• Fork and seatstay bridge with holes for brake calipers with medium reach (47–57 mm)
• Maximum tire clearance: 700c x 38 mm without fenders (32 mm with fenders—eyelets on the rear fender only)
• One bottle cage mount
• The frame is powder-coated for a durable finish and E.D.-coated for rust resistance
