Description of Shimano SH-XM900 Touring - GORE TEX Shoe - grey

Shimano's flagship of touring and trekking shoes: natural nubuck leather with reinforced rubber toe box for protection and durability combined with waterproof, breathable Gore-Tex® Performance Comfort FOOTWEAR-lining and exclusive, durable lightweight Vibram® outsole for superior grip and foot control in all conditions make the XM9 the perfect mountain tour shoe with maximum grip for hike and bike tours.

Strategic ankle padding prevents debris from entering the shoe without interfering with pedaling movement. "Mini Power Strap" closure system with TPU heel provides firm 360 heel holding. Flexible half length shank plate and shock absorbing EVA delivers trail walkability within a serious cycling shoe. Mid-top design offers added stability, ankle protection and walking support. The used Volume Performance Last, an accommodative comfort performance last that's wider at the ball grid than the Volume+ last, provides superior comfort and stability and allows the use of custom orthotics.

Ideal in combination with the Shimano pedal PD-M8020,PD-T780.

Please note: Shimano shoes are quite small. We strongly recommend to take one size larger than usual.

Good
Impression of the first ride, first on the bike of Nishiki Bigfoot K29. Temperature +3 degrees Celsius. My foot size is European 43, 10 US and 9 US. This is not to say that the Shimano SH-XM900 is 44 in size, wide in the foot. But they are definitely wider than my previous Shimano SH-AM5 - 45 sizes. After 2 hours of cycling, my toes felt uncomfortable. But this was most likely due to the fact that 2 compression socks were used. But the feet were comfortable. Of the downsides, in my case, the bike is equipped with Wellgo MTB / ATB Platform Pedals MG6-AL MTB pedals. The cleats on the pedals, and the pad itself, are not suitable for the sole pattern. But this problem can be solved by replacing the pedals with flat platform pedals.....

After 1,5 years in the middle of Finland: Do not expect to ride below -5 C, Neoprene parts do not last wear. The lace system is not adjustable. I prefer SH-M089L and neoprene covers.
Excellent
Great product. After more than 2 hours of driving in the rain my feet were still dry (I put my gore-tex trousers over the shoes). At temperatures above 3 Celsius degrees I need to wear only ordinary socks- to keep my feet in comfortable warm, in sub-zero temperatures I need to use thicker socks (eg. Ski type). As for the size of those shoes - for years it works for me like this: Ecco - size 46, NW - 47, Shimanno and Asciss - 48.
