Description of Continental Grand Prix Urban Folding Tire 35-622 - black / black

The choice for fixies, singlespeed and urban Bikes – Based on the legendary Grand Prix series the Urban version combines a modern profile design with the latest technology. Sparks with a tuned Race construction while damping for comfort – a matching mix for the urban ride. Its black reflective stripe blends perfectly with the sidewall.

BlackChili Compound
This unique tread rubber mixture which is only produced in Continental German factory has revolutionized bicycle tires. The resultant compound showed a new relationship between grip and rolling resistance. This "Elevated level", as it was previously known, was given the name "BlackChili". Countless test wins that were shown in laboratory tests show a tangible benefit. The latest polymers, nanoscale soot particles and optimized fillers all guarantee a unique performance, from downhill MTB tyres to the time trial tyres of the ProTour, they are second to none in their respective areas. BlackChili Compound improves rolling resistance by 26% and provides 30% more grip than activated silica compounds. Premium tyres with BlackChili Compound also impress with higher mileage and unlike many multi-compounds, provide a constant ride from the first to the last kilometer.

PolyX Breaker®
With PolyX Breaker®, Continental brings PKW know-how to the bicycle tyre segment: Polyester has been used successfully for years in car tires and been tried and tested many times. The extremely resistant polyester fiber is woven tightly crosswise. In this way, a very high fabric density is reached which not only makes the Breaker more resistant to foreign objects but is also especially resistant to punctures. The rolling resistance is also not negatively affected by the PolyX Breaker®.

Customer Reviews

Very nice tires, cool design and high quality.
Use on my Specialized Sirrus Elite bike for regular commuting and
weekend riding.
Feels very comfortable, stable and enough fast.
Nice upgrade of my stock tires.
Very enjoy with purchase.
Nice, but far away of 'statement tire for the city'
First of all, had no problems. Easy to install, they already survived direct hit into street drain grate. Design is great.
However I think they definitively should go with range of sizes. That ''best of both' ratio easily turns out into 'not racing tire anymore, while just a bit more comfortable than 32 size'. Before I was running a 'plain' Bontrager AW 1 lite 32, which really is soft tire but able to go to 6.9 bars, experiencing a way better response, better behavior in corners, just a little bit less comfortable. It's getting better when Conti Urban is pushed near to max of 6 bars, but it's still heavy, despite the relative small weight. So for now, Bontrager is back again, I'd give a chance to Conti Urban as a winter tire.
