Assegai - Dual Compound / DownHill / Wide Trail

Named after the hunting spear of the Zulu people from Greg Minnaar's native South Africa, the Assegai drills into any terrain. The Assegai is our best front tire for bikes from 150 mm and all ground conditions.

• Dual Compound - Two different rubber compounds are blended into one tread strip. Maxxis plans the arrangement of the compounds according to the desired characteristics of the tires.
• DownHill Casing - The MAXXIS Downhill tires are used in exactly the same construction by the most successful DH riders. Double 60TPI carcass plies and butyl inserts in the sidewall above the tire bead are the basis of the tires that have won most downhill races in recent years.
• Tubeless Ready (TR) - Tubeless tires have many advantages: You can ride with less air pressure. This gives you better traction and rolling resistance decreases. And where there is no tube, the risk of punctures also decreases. MAXXIS TR tires are better prepared for mounting with sealing milk than other "Tubeless Ready" tires. The bead of the TR tires is completely covered with a rubber layer, just like a real UST tubeless tire. This makes tubeless mounting successful on all rims with standard dimensions already at the first inflation and with little liquid.
• Wide Trail (WT) - Tires are optimized for an inner rim width of 35 mm, but work excellent on all rims with an inner dimension of 30-39 mm.
