Gravel tread designed to take you beyond where the pavement ends, to where the terrain is less maintained. Its design includes a tightly packed, fast-rolling center for straight line control and speed, open transition knobs for either sandy or wet terrains, and more aggressive shoulder knobs for controlled cornering and stability in loose conditions.

For higher speeds, lower pressures and rougher terrain, Challenge has developed a new technology applied to handmade construction. The new XP series adds additional sidewall and tread protection Xtra Protection (XP) for greater durability.

This Challenge TLR model is hookless rim compatible.

Construction: Handmade | Challenge handmade tires combine comfort, performance, and grip in a way other tires can't match. The handmade tires are assembled step-by-step by experienced craftspeople. High quality natural glues and latex coatings are applied to ultra-supple casing materials like silk, cotton, or polyester. The result is a small-batch tire with a ride feel that is simply on a different level.

Series: XP (Xtra Protection) | Rugged High Performance – Extra Protection under the tread and in the sidewalls make XP the choice for rough pavement and gravel routes where sidewall cuts are common.

Casing: Super Polyester 260TPI | Super Polyesters with higher thread counts of 220-300tpi make up the most affordable handmade casings. Polyester is much softer and stronger then nylon, is impervious to water and quite durable.

Compund: SMARTplus | A tougher and more cut-resistant rubber compound for the demands of gravel and rough terrain. SMARTplus wears longer to keep tread edges sharper, improving confidence over mixed surfaces.

Puncture protection: PPS | The Puncture Protection System (PPS) is a tough, tightly-woven fabric placed between the tread and casing to increase puncture resistance.

 

Note: Tubeless Ready tires require tubeless compatible rims/wheels, tubeless valves, tubeless rim tape and sealing fluid for tubeless mounting. Sealant fluid is not required for tubeless UST tires, but is recommended for increased puncture protection. Installation should only be carried out by qualified personnel.
