SCOTT E-Mountain Bikes - What are the different Types?

SCOTT divides its E-MTB range into three main categories: Trail, Sport and Enduro. Which SCOTT electric mountain bike is right for you, we clarify below.

SCOTT Sport E-MTB - Enduring All-Rounder

We start with the category SCOTT Sport E-MTB. The Aspect eRide model is a versatile mountain bike hardtail, a SCOTT e-mountain bike without suspension at the rear. This bike is perfect for riding in easier terrain. It combines the world of gravel bikes with those of full suspension trail bikes. Wide tires, powerful disc brakes and mountain-ready gearing are standard on these models.

If you like endurance touring on easy terrain, the SCOTT Aspect eRide is perfect for you. On extremely challenging trails and descents, the Sport models can reach their limits. If you are mostly on gravel, forest and dirt roads, SCOTT Sport bikes offer you everything you need. The Aspect eRide counterpart for women is called SCOTT Contessa Active eRide.

SCOTT Trail E-MTB - Fast, Light and Agile

We like to call trail bikes fast trail rockets! Their suspensions are more powerful than those of hardtails. Full suspension brings comfort and safety, while a sporty geometry ensures perfect handling on the trails. The SCOTT Genius is the classic trail bike and is available in the Genius eRide version with motor. Other models in this category are the Patron eRide, the Strike eRide and the respective women's models with the addition Contessa.

If you do not ride a tour without challenging single trails, then a trail bike is made for you. SCOTT Trail e-mountain bikes offer a perfect balance of stiffness, comfort and low weight. They are ideally suited for endurance tours.

SCOTT Enduro E-MTB - Faster, Steeper, Higher!

Trails can not be steep enough downhill and thick jumps belong for you? Then you should look for an Enduro E-MTB from SCOTT. Unlike a SCOTT trail e-mountain bike, Enduro e-bikes have a clear focus: maximum downhill fun. The motor is your built-in shuttle or lift replacement with only one goal: to get you to the start of the next downhill as quickly as possible. With thick tires and up to 180 mm of suspension travel, SCOTT Enduro electric mountain bikes are powerful playmates that stop at nothing.

SCOTT Women’s E-MTB – For Ladies only.

Many e-mountain bikes from SCOTT are available in a version specifically for women. These models you recognize by the name addition Contessa. They offer an adapted geometry, and SCOTT women's bikes also place great emphasis on perfectly coordinated contact points. The connection between rider and bike must fit: With the SCOTT Contessa models you can be sure that it is so.

An Overview of Frequently Asked Questions about the E-MTB

What is the Range of an E-Mountain Bike?

This question cannot be answered across the board. From a purely technical point of view, the battery's capacity provides an important objective indication of how long the battery can last. It is specified in watt hours (Wh). However, there are many variable factors that strongly influence the range of your bike:

  • The weight of the bike and rider. Are you stout or petite? Is your bike a hulk or a lightweight? Are you riding with luggage or without it all? One thing is clear: The heavier your basic setup, the more energy it takes to move it.
  • Motor quality and control. Modern motors with intelligent control systems save energy and increase range. SCOTT relies on systems from Shimano and Bosch, putting its trust in modern components from the market leaders.
  • Environmental conditions: Are you climbing one mountain after another or is your route flat? Do you have a headwind or is the wind blowing from behind? Is it pleasantly warm outside or are you riding in the middle of winter? All of these factors affect how far one charge will take you.

Over time, you'll get a feel for how far you can go on a full charge. Modern systems like those from SCOTT give you an overview at any time, so you always know and can adjust your ride if necessary.

How long does it take to charge the Battery of my SCOTT E-Mountain Bike?

Modern batteries of e-mountain bikes nowadays usually have a capacity of 500 Wh. It usually takes around five hours until they are full again. Less than three hours are needed to charge the battery to around 80 percent.

What do I have to consider when Cleaning my E-MTB?

Basically, modern E-MTBs are waterproof - you can ride them in wind and weather without hesitation. Basically, you only need to follow the normal "rules" when cleaning. The most important is: Do not clean your bike with the hard jet of a high-pressure cleaner. The garden hose and a brush or a rag guarantee the gentle cleaning of your bike. To be on the safe side, you can dry the contact plates of your battery after washing. In winter, it makes sense to store your battery in a warm environment. If your bike is in the garden shed at sub-zero temperatures, it's best to take the battery with you into the warmth of your home.

650B or 29 inch - Which Wheel Size is the Right One for Me?

Most SCOTT e-mountain bikes are compatible with both wheel sizes. You have the choice and can convert your bike in case of doubt. By default, SCOTT e-mountain bikes are delivered with 29-inch wheels. The modern wheel size has prevailed because it offers many advantages. Above all, their excellent rollover properties are responsible for this. They ensure that 29-inch bikes are more comfortable and roll more safely over the trails. 650B wheels provide more agile driving characteristics and tend to accommodate riders who maintain a playful, active riding style.
