Trek Mountain Bikes - Performance with the Highest Quality

In 1976, Trek founder John Burke began making lugged steel touring bikes in a barn in Waterloo. At that time, neither he nor his five employees had a faint idea of what would become of this small garage forge today. Nor did anyone have any idea that 40 years later Trek mountain bikes would be high-end machines. They are among the best in the world and there is a suitable model for every application. We explain to you which Trek MTB is right for you.

Trek MTB Fully or Hardtail? Which Mountain Bike is the Right One for You?

Trek MTB Fully or Hardtail? In a full-suspension mountain bike (fully for short), the rear triangle is suspended. Trek Fullys are comfortable and smooth-running, which results in more safety on rough trails. Modern fullys are incredibly efficient and can compete with any hardtail. A Trek MTB hardtail has no suspension in the frame, it has a "hard rear end". Do you like a direct feel and are mostly on flowy trails? Then you should think about buying a Trek hardtail. Other advantages: Hardtails have no bearings and no shock. For this reason, they are enormously robust and reliable. The maintenance effort is minimal. A hardtail is usually lighter and cheaper.

Which Trek MTB is Best for Which Use?

Trek offers Mountain bikes for every area of use. There are:

  • Trek Cross Country Mountain Bikes
  • Trek Trailbikes und Trek Enduro Bikes
  • Trek Downhill Mountain Bikes
  • Trek E-Mountain Bikes

Trek Cross Country Mountain Bikes: Not Only For Racing Use

When you think of cross country, do you first think of arrow-fast racing machines for well-trained pros? Then you have a good idea of what is possible with Trek XC bikes. We can promise you: Trek Cross Country bikes aren't just fun for professional racing. If you're a long-distance tourer who likes a sporty ride, you'll be right at home with a Trek XC bike.

The Top Fuel is a high-performance cross-country full suspension bike with a rich and efficient suspension. Paired with an arrow-quick cross country geometry, this bike is ideal for you if you enjoy flow trails or technical downhills.

The Trek Supercaliber is uncompromisingly designed for maximum efficiency. A key component of the frame concept is the IsoStrut system. This perfectly integrates shock and rear triangle into the frame design and comes thanks to flexible carbon struts without bearings. It offers 60 mm of suspension travel with maximum efficiency. IsoStrut is a fullsuspension rear suspension system in a minimalist form. The result is an arrow-fast bike that is made for you if you want to get everything out of you and your bike.

If you want to feel what's going on under your tires, the Procaliber is your bike! The Trek Race Hardtail combines maximum reliability and efficiency with the best comfort imaginable for a hardtail. Trek achieves this with its IsoSpeed system. It "decouples" the seat tube from the top tube and provides - despite the stiff frame - a certain suspension. The smallest shocks and vibrations are defused in this way, which makes for a much more comfortable ride. In this way, you remain fatigue-free on long rides despite the hardtail feeling.

The X-Caliber is Trek's entry-level cross country mountain bike. The modern aluminum frame is efficient, powerful, and keeps the price on the rug. If your budget is manageable or you're just getting into XC, the X-Caliber is perfect for you.

The Trek Marlin is not a true cross country bike. Rather, it's a versatile all-around mountain bike that feels at home anywhere. It's perfect for your adventures iin the city or far out in nature. It is the most affordable bike in the Trek XC line and perfect for entry-level MTB riding.

Trek Trail Bikes: Fun and Speed for Exciting Trail Adventures

Don't get us wrong: We love to fly as fast as possible over great trails on our mountain bike. By speed, in this case, we mean performance-oriented mountain biking in cross country use. Trek's trail mountain bikes focus on other challenges. Technical trails, jumps and endless descents are the playground for this Trek MTB category. There are four model platforms to choose from that cover a wide range of uses.

The Trek Slash is a long-stroke fun bike with 160 mm travel at the rear. With this bike it is allowed to go already times rougher: It feels just as good on fast flow trails as it does on hefty enduro lines. Its fun-oriented geometry and the 29 inch wheels ensure smooth running and best handling. If you're looking for a rugged fun bike for the home trails or the bike park, the Trek Slash is your bike.

Would you like something a little more playful? Here you go: the Trek Remedy. With its 27.5-inch wheels, it feels really good on technical trails and jumping. 150mm of travel is the perfect mix of lush and efficient. Are you looking for the best trails and prefer to take them downhill? Then take a closer look at the models in the Remedy line.

The Trek Fuel EX is what we like to call a "trail rocket" because it's so awesome! It offers a "mere" 130 mm of rear travel, but it's so efficient and perfectly tuned that it feels like so much more. The Trek Fuel EX is incredibly efficient. Thus, every flat trail becomes a rapid descent! The Fuel EX combines the agile handling characteristics of a "fat" enduro bike with the efficiency of a cross country fully. If "full throttle" is your preferred mode, the Trek Fuel EX is perfect for you.

A hardtail as a trail bike? Why not! The all-new Roscoe offers all the features you'd expect from a full-suspension Trek trail bike. The only difference: the rear triangle is unsuspensioned. The Trek Roscoe offers unadulterated fun in a minimalist, rugged package. If you're looking for maximum fun at a minimum price, the Trek Roscoe is for you.

For Downhill Specialists: Downhill Bikes from Trek

Trek has always been involved in freeride and downhill sports - the Downhill Trek Team is placed at the front of every competition. Logically, that the U.S. company has the appropriate work equipment in the program.

If instead you love big jumps, airtime and sick tricks, then the freeride full Trek Ticket is perfect for you. It is also ideal instead of a Trek dirt bike for small jumplines at home or in the bike park.

Are There Trek Mountain Bike Women Models?

At Trek, they believe that every bike, regardless of gender, should fit its rider perfectly. Instead of creating gender-specific models, they prefer to offer the possibility to perfectly individualize each individual Trek bike. Since every Trek mountain bike is available in numerous sizes, small women, for example, can easily find the right model. The Trek Project One configurator takes customization to the extreme. With the online configurator, you can order your unique look. Furthermore, you can select every single part of your new bike exactly according to your ideas.

27.5 Inch or 29 Inch: Which Wheel Size is Right for You?

Is there a perfect wheel size? There is no clear answer to this question. We can help you find the perfect wheel size for you personally. Both 27.5 inch and 29 inch wheels have certain characteristics. Once you know what those are, you can make your choice. Trek is aware of this, by the way, and offers its bikes with the ideal wheel size for each. The Cross Country Race bikes are available exclusively with 29 inch wheels. You benefit from their good rollover characteristics and smooth running at top speed. Gravity bikes like the Remedy come with 27.5 inch tires instead. If you want to ride 29 inches nonetheless, there's a 29-inch frameset as an alternative. What are the specific characteristics of the two wheel diameters?

Trek Mountain Bike 27,5 Zoll

  • provide agile handling
  • feel more agile and „nippy“
  • allow the construction of stiff wheels
  • are a good choice for small frame sizes, as there is more space for the frame construction
  • are mainly used in Gravity bikes, which should be playful and agile

Trek Mountain Bike 29 Zoll

  • offer outstanding rollover properties
  • are extremely smooth-running, especially at high speeds
  • provide a stable, safe ride overall
  • bring more weight on the scale, especially if you do not want to compromise on stiffness.
  • make sense in fast cross country bikes or in downhill bikes where every second matters

Or Should it Rather be a Trek E-MTB?

When we talk about Trek mountain bikes, of course we have to take a look at the models with e-motor. Trek has five different E-MTB series in its program. The Powerfly is a versatile, tight trail-fully, ideally suited as an all-round E-MTB. The Powerfly Equipped is its counterpart for the city. Equipped with mudguards and a rear rack, it is ideal for everyday riding. If you're looking for a powerful trail bike with potent suspension, the Rail is your bike. The new Fuel EXe rides similarly. It is the latest development in Trek E-MTB. You almost can't tell it's an e-mountain bike. The motor and battery are so unobtrusively integrated into the frame that you have to look twice. It is one of the lightest e-mountain bikes on the market. The E-Caliber is the motirized counterpart to the Trek Cross Country Bike Caliber.
