In its second generation, Maxxis has not only redesigned the Re-Fuse in terms of tread pattern and rubber compound, but has also equipped it with improved puncture protection. The result of all these optimizations is a tire that is faster, lighter and more durable than ever before.

In the current model, the full-surface diamond shape profile of the first generation has been replaced by a smooth center strip to minimize rolling resistance. Reliable grip in corners is still guaranteed thanks to lateral arranged micro-knobs. To meet the demands of varying surfaces best, the gravel-ready version also features an adaptive dual-compound rubber blend and the durable MaxxShield puncture protection.

Dual Compound | Two different rubber compounds are processed into a single tread strip. The characteristics of each compound and their arrangement are determined based on the desired properties of the tires. Different dual compounds are used depending on the tire category. For example, the compounds used in gravel and downhill tires differ significantly.

MaxxShield (MS) |  The ultimate tire solution for training-oriented road cycling. This puncture protection system combines SilkShield all-around protection with the K2 protective layer.

SilkShield | To provide optimal all-around protection, the SilkShield puncture protection system extends the proven Silkworm layer across the entire tire, from rim to rim. This not only protects the tread from cuts and tears but also safeguards the side walls against damage.

K2 Protection | This exclusive fabric from Maxxis offers even more puncture protection than conventional Kevlar fibers or models featuring Vectran. At the same time, the construction is not only lightweight and supple but also contributes to impressive handling and top-tier performance.

Aramid Bead | Bead cores made from aramid fibers are just as secure as those made from metal wire, yet about 50 grams lighter. Additionally, the material allows the tires to be folded, making it easier to transport.

Tubeless Ready (TR) | Tubeless tires offer many advantages. Riding with lower air pressure improves traction, and rolling resistance is also lower than with an inner tube. Furthermore, the risk of a flat tire is significantly reduced by using a sealant instead of an inner tube, as small punctures are sealed immediately.
