Minion DHR II – Do It All & Everywhere

The second-generation Minion DHR is characterized by high grip and immense braking power, making it the ideal tire for aggressive gravity riding. This versatile folding tire owes these characteristics in no small part to its optimized tread design.

While supported side knobs provide optimal lateral support, the transversely arranged center knobs—some of which are paddle-shaped—ensure maximum control and traction during braking. To improve acceleration as well, the center knobs are also beveled. Strategically placed notches, in turn, enhance steering response. Furthermore, the Minion DHR II performs exceptionally well not only as a rear tire but also as a front tire.

Features of the Maxxis Minion DHR II folding tire

  • 3C MaxxTerra Rubber Compound
  • Tubeless Ready Casing with DownHill (DH) puncture protection
  • Carcass: 60 TPI

Triple Compound (3C) | The most important component of the tire is the rubber compound on the tread. Maxxis’ 3C compounds, designed for mountain bikes, use a harder base compound with two progressively softer compounds on top for optimal handling in their respective application areas. The side knobs are always softer than the center knobs. Different, individually optimized compounds are used for each application area.

3C MaxxTerra | Among Maxxis’ Triple Compound (3C) formulations, the MaxxTerra rubber compound represents the “happy medium.” Compared to the MaxxGrip Downhill compound, MaxxTerra not only offers lower rolling resistance on climbs but also greater durability. Compared to the XC-specific MaxxSpeed compound, the enduro-ready compound, in turn, offers more grip and traction.

DownHill Casing (DH) | This is what winners look like! Maxxis tires featuring the “ DH Casing ” are used successfully by professional downhill racers and feature the exact same construction. This is based on dual carcass plies, each with 60 TPI, as well as butyl inserts in the side wall above the tire bead.

Tubeless Ready (TR) | Tubeless tires offer many advantages. Riding with lower air pressure improves traction, and rolling resistance is also lower than with an inner tube. Furthermore, the risk of a flat tire is significantly reduced by using a sealant instead of an inner tube, as small punctures are sealed immediately.
