Ikon – The Reliable XC All-Rounder
Large volume, fast, lots of grip – with these characteristics, the Ikon impresses with unparalleled performance on a wide variety of surfaces. And it is versatile too. The Cross Country tire proves reliable on soft and loose terrain as well as on hard surfaces. With its predictable handling and particularly low rolling resistance, it also knows how to impress Slopestyle athletes.
Features of the Maxxis Ikon folding tire
- MaxxSpeed rubber compound (Single Compound)
- Tubeless Ready carcass with EXO sidewall protection
- Wide Trail (WT) construction adapted to wide rims
MaxxSpeed | This is a high silica single compound, which is ideal for XC racing. More grip even in wet conditions and a 25 % reduction in rolling resistance compared to the legendary 3C MaxxSpeed triple rubber compound enable tires equipped with MaxxSpeed technology to achieve higher speeds and correspondingly faster lap times.
EXO Protection | This extremely cut- and abrasion-resistant material protects the sidewall of various MTB and Gravel models. It is very densely woven, but nevertheless extremely light and flexible to ensure that the tires continue to perform well and convincingly.
Tubeless Ready (TR) | Tubeless tires have many advantages. Riding with less air pressure improves traction and rolling resistance is also lower than with inner tubes. In addition, the risk of punctures is significantly reduced by using a sealant instead of an inner tube, as small holes are immediately sealed again.
Wide Trail (WT) | Traditional tires were developed for narrow rims, which is why they are too angular on wide rims and can therefore no longer offer optimum performance. In contrast, the Wide Trail design from Maxxis relies on a tread layout and a tire shape that is tailored to modern rims. WT tires are optimized for 30 mm rims, but also demonstrate their advantages perfectly with an inner rim width of up to 39 mm.
Note: Tubeless Ready tires require tubeless compatible rims/wheels, tubeless valves, tubeless rim tape and sealing fluid for tubeless mounting. Sealant fluid is not required for tubeless UST tires, but is recommended for increased puncture protection. Installation should only be carried out by qualified personnel.
